I Forgot I Ever Loved You (Zoe and Hayden) novel Chapter 115

Realizing the atmosphere was turning toxic, the man awkwardly laughed it off and practically sprinted away.

Hayden stared at the retreating figures of Zoe and Nadia, his aura lethally cold.

Sienna bit her lip and tried to link her arm with his again, but a single, freezing glare from him stopped her dead.

"What are you doing here?"

Sienna looked deeply wronged and murmured softly.

"Holden was throwing a tantrum, demanding the snack platter from this place. He refused to go anywhere else. I had no idea you and Zoe would be eating here.

Did I interrupt you two? It looked like Zoe misunderstood us... Maybe I should go explain things to her."

Hayden replied coldly, "Don't bother. I'll order whatever Holden wants."

Sienna's lips curved upward into a subtle, contented smile.

"What else? He'll just get his usual favorites from when you bring him here."

She glanced up at the approaching restaurant manager, a hint of triumphant pride in her eyes.

"We'll take our usual private room. The standard menu, please. And remember, no cilantro, scallions, or garlic for Mr. Thorne."

The manager nodded eagerly and immediately sent staff to prepare the room.

Hayden gave a faint frown and handed Holden over to Sienna.

"Take Holden in to eat. I have business to handle at the office, so I won't be joining you today."

Sienna's smile froze instantly.

Whenever she came looking for Hayden, she always brought Holden along.

And every time Holden was present, Hayden would drop everything, no matter how important, just to keep them company.

But this time—

She sensed a distinct shift.

Outside the floor-to-ceiling windows, Zoe and Nadia were already long gone.

Sienna bit her lower lip, her mind racing with anxiety.

Hayden was in such a rush to leave—surely it wasn't because of Zoe?

She remained silent for a few seconds before looking back up, her eyes swimming with practiced gentleness.

Sienna murmured softly, "Alright. Go handle your work. I need to head back to the office after we finish eating, anyway."

A strange flicker passed through Hayden's dark eyes, so brief it was entirely imperceptible.

He turned on his heel without offering any further explanation.

His strides toward the exit were notably rushed.

The gentle facade in Sienna's eyes instantly crystallized into ice.

Holden looked up at Sienna in confusion.

"Mom, is Uncle Hayden not eating with us?"

After delivering her threat, Sienna hurried out on her stilettos to follow them.

A waiter walked over to the manager, clearly indignant.

"Boss, it was clearly Mrs. Thorne who—"

"Zip it. Don't go spreading rumors."

The manager silenced the waiter immediately, resigning himself to the bad luck. He ordered the staff to reclean the spot where Holden had fallen and carefully apply a fresh coat of wax.

Hayden had long since driven off with Sienna and Holden.

Zoe and Nadia had also gotten into their car.

Sitting in the front seats, Nadia hadn't touched the gas pedal.

Zoe looked at her. "What are you so scared of?"

Nadia's teeth were practically chattering. "Aren't you scared?"

Zoe looked baffled. "Why would I be scared?"

Nadia shot back, "If you're not scared, then why are you shaking?"

"..."

Zoe couldn't maintain her tough facade any longer.

The two women just sat in the car, shivering together.
