He Waited She Wilted (Ottilie and Yorath) novel Chapter 99

"Not bad? She's literally just the industry's prettiest face. Aside from her looks, she's utterly useless. Oh wait, sure, she can keep you satisfied in bed, but no matter how good she is, she's still just an actress. Marry you? Tell her to keep dreaming."

Yorath said nothing.

Jevon went on a relentless, cursing rant before suddenly catching himself. He probed cautiously, "You're not actually going to marry her... right?"

Yorath remained silent.

Jevon cleared his throat awkwardly. "Don't forget how Mandy died."

Another heavy silence stretched between them before Jevon spoke again. "She is a walking disaster. Bringing her back just guaranteed endless chaos. Just cut her loose. If she wants to go sell sandwiches, let her. If she wants to wait tables, let her. Sure, finding an exact replica of her is tough, but it's not like you can't find a replacement..."

Before Jevon could finish, Yorath ended the call.

The next morning.

Ottilie woke up at dawn.

She dressed in the exact same clothes she had arrived in.

Walking out, she spotted Yorath moving around the kitchen.

She paused by the kitchen door to announce herself. "Yorath, I'm leaving."

He glanced over his shoulder. "Where to?"

"Home. Thanks for everything while I was here." They had officially burned the bridge last night; there was zero reason for her to stay.

He frowned, offering no response.

Ottilie added, "I'll wire the money for the dishes I broke."

Yorath stepped out of the kitchen and handed her several packed containers. "Take this with you."

Ottilie accepted them with both hands and gave a polite nod. "Thank you, Yorath."

Yorath stood by the floor-to-ceiling glass doors of the dining room, watching her walk down the estate's private road.

As she passed a sanitation worker near the gates, she casually tossed the containers straight into the trash.

Ottilie had roughly three thousand dollars to her name.

She contacted an agent and rented a cheap apartment for a thousand dollars a month.

The decor was horrendous and the neighborhood was sketchy, but it was surprisingly spacious.

One bedroom, a living room, a bathroom, and a tiny balcony.
