He Waited She Wilted (Ottilie and Yorath) novel Chapter 100

Nyssa kept talking, "You guys really don't understand girls at all. Only true love makes someone demand exclusivity. She loved Yorath so much. You shouldn't mock a girl's sincere heart like that. Once it's truly gone, no amount of money can ever buy it back."

Jevon scoffed. "Sincerity? With a family like this? Is she brain-damaged? Can sincerity buy food? Can you spend it? If you're lying on a hospital bed, money saves your life. Sincerity just gets you killed."

Ottilie and Yorath locked eyes as Jevon's mockery echoed in the background.

Several heavy seconds passed before Yorath looked back down to wash the vegetables, occasionally handing Nyssa a clean plate.

Ottilie turned on her heel and walked away.

Just as she exited the neighborhood gates, her phone buzzed.

It was James Sewell.

"Ottilie, why aren't you saying anything?"

He had fallen seriously ill right after signing the severance contract that legally severed their relationship.

Riddled with guilt, he hadn't dared to call her since.

Ottilie finally spoke. "I just don't know what to say."

James cleared his throat. "Your brother landed a job at Mr. Tarrant's law firm. He bought a ton of groceries. Come home and have dinner with us."

"I'm not coming. I have other things to handle. Goodbye."

She hung up and headed straight back to her cramped apartment.

She blocked Yorath's number.

An email popped up from Lachlan.

{Ms. Sewell, next time you decide to announce our signing, let's schedule a proper time so we can actually be prepared and not scrambling like last time.}

Ottilie typed back.

{You're well aware I've moved out of Yorath's place, aren't you? I have absolutely zero ties to him now. Do you still want any ties to me?}

She knew exactly why Lachlan had approached her in the first place.

{Everyone's saying you played yourself and got kicked to the curb for being delusional. But I think you just got sick of his pretentious act. Dump him and follow me, I'll take good care of you.}

Ottilie didn't bother replying.

She knew she had become the ultimate laughingstock of the industry.

She had returned making massive waves, only to watch Nyssa's movie rake in millions at the box office.

The lead role in the new highly anticipated film was snatched right out of her hands by Nyssa.

And now, she had been thrown out on the street.
