The people in this room were the titans of the entertainment industry. If they collectively blacklisted Ottilie, she wouldn't be able to take a single step forward.
Even with Yorath's immense power, he couldn't force the public to love her.
The entertainment industry thrived on traffic and fan devotion. Without public support, all the corporate backing in the world couldn't force a star to shine.
In fact, it often backfired.
Ottilie was tainted goods; there were endless ways to completely destroy her reputation.
Nyssa was an artist under Yorath's agency, and her undying devotion to him was public knowledge.
Right now, even though she wanted Ottilie dead and buried, she couldn't openly oppose Yorath.
But she absolutely could not allow Ottilie to successfully return to the industry!
Nyssa's mind raced. Her eyes grew red and misty as a tragic, brave smile touched her lips.
She looked so fragile and wronged that the wealthy playboys in the room practically melted with heartache.
"I fully support Yorath's decision," she said softly. "What happened back then is in the past, and I've long since let it go. But a matter this significant shouldn't be decided by an actress like me. Why don't we put it to a vote? If the vote passes by a simple majority, no one is allowed to object anymore. No one can ever use the events of three years ago against Ms. Sewell again, and no one is allowed to sabotage her behind the scenes."
Nyssa's reputation was pristine. She was universally adored, and nearly everyone in the room was a fan.
Especially the rich heirs who sponsored her; they worshipped the ground she walked on.
Whatever she suggested was law.
"I agree!" Huxley eagerly took the lead.
The rest of the room quickly echoed their approval.
Huxley shot Yorath a smug look. "You don't object to a democratic vote, do you, Mr. Fordham?"
They had this in the bag.
"I agree," Yorath replied, entirely unbothered.
The calm acceptance caught everyone off guard.
A split second later, several of the heirs suddenly remembered the contracts they had signed in the VIP room of the nightclub days ago.
Yorath had said he would call a meeting and require their votes. Surely he didn't mean *this*?
Simultaneously, their phones buzzed.
