He Waited She Wilted (Ottilie and Yorath) novel Chapter 85

She radiated an intoxicating, ripe sweetness from head to toe.

Like a delicate flower heavily nourished by spring rain, she was effortlessly, hopelessly alluring.

Jevon took one look at her and muttered a quiet curse. "Siren."

Then he leaned in and told Yorath, "If she were a proper wealthy heiress, she would have driven you utterly mad by now."

Yorath stood up and walked over to her. "The kitchen made seafood bisque, along with a side of cucumber salad and white radishes."

"Thank you. Please, carry on with your work. I can get it myself."

Ottilie walked toward the dining room. Yorath followed right behind her, pulled out her chair, and personally served her food.

Feeling unnerved by the sudden attentive treatment, she tried to stand up and do it herself.

But the sudden movement flared up the soreness in her overused muscles, forcing her right back into the seat.

Yorath arranged the silverware perfectly in front of her. "Don’t go handing out flyers anymore. If someone recognizes you out there, security will be a nightmare."

"Understood."

Jevon leaned against the dining room archway with his arms crossed. "Look at her, so obedient. You’ve trained her into a domesticated house cat!"

Ottilie flashed him a polite smile. "Thank you for the compliment, Mr. Crawford."

Yorath shot him a cold glare. "Don't you have somewhere to be?"

Jevon immediately scurried off.

Yorath turned back to her. "The movie premieres tonight. I bought the tickets. You’re coming with me."

"Okay." Ottilie was perfectly compliant.

She genuinely wanted to see how Bryce Cameron had edited the assault scene.

She had never finished filming it, so what was her character's actual ending?

That night.

Ottilie and Yorath sat in the theater.

As the second female lead, Ottilie had a massive amount of screen time. Her early scenes had barely been touched by the editors.

The blazing fire was heavily stylized. The footage of her being assaulted by the men had clearly been reshot with stand-ins, the framing kept intentionally blurred and chaotic.

In the end, her character went completely mad, grabbing a torch and setting the entire house ablaze, burning herself and her attackers to ashes.

It was the tragic demise of a beautifully broken character, taking her enemies down with her. An absolute masterclass in acting.

Characters with that much emotional depth were rare these days.

The audience was openly weeping in the theater.

Only Ottilie knew the truth—that raw, visceral terror on the screen wasn't acting. It had been real!
