Inside the luxurious, secluded private room.
The waiter served the drinks and quietly withdrew.
Ottilie sat alone on one side of the table, while the wealthy investors sat on the other.
Jevon sat squarely in the middle.
With her slender fingers, Ottilie elegantly held her cup. She looked calmly at the group of entertainment moguls across from her, a flawless smile playing on her lips.
“Gentlemen, if you have something to say, just say it. There’s no need to beat around the bush. I’m quite slow, so I might not catch your drift otherwise.”
Bryce Cameron spoke up. “Ms. Sewell, we absolutely must release Echoes of Antiquity. Name your terms.”
Ottilie replied, “Since when do I have the power to decide if a movie premieres or not?”
Kendrick interjected, “Let’s skip the pleasantries, Ms. Sewell. Everyone knows Mr. Fordham shelved the movie to avenge you. As long as you give the word, the film gets released.”
Dropping the act, Ottilie’s expression turned dead serious. “I want the master tape of the scene where you hired that mob to gang-rape me.”
Instantly, the entire room fell dead silent.
A few seconds later, Ottilie let out a light, easy laugh. “Every debt has its debtor. I only target the mastermind.”
Bryce said, “You’re quite the joker, Ms. Sewell. What happened back then was just a rehearsal. You had a psychotic break and mistook the acting for reality, resulting in multiple deaths. If you weren't legally declared insane, you’d be serving life in prison right now.”
Kendrick chimed in, “Exactly. Mr. Fordham personally confirmed your psychiatric condition back then.”
Ottilie lowered her eyelashes, staring at her own reflection in her cup. A storm of frantic, violent emotions churned in her eyes.
She had been assaulted, fought back in self-defense, and they had wanted to hand her a life sentence.
Whoever said there was no such thing as a perfect crime was wrong.
These people had executed it flawlessly.
When Ottilie looked up again, her eyes were crystal clear, a polite smile resting on her lips.
