Stella opened her mouth to defend Cassidy, but Jarrod beat her to it.

"You said it yourself—she's a former employee. What does that have to do with my wife? Furthermore, if you hadn't abused your authority to provoke her, she never would have retaliated like this."

The threat only fueled Chloe's hysteria. Tears spilled down her cheeks. "When have you ever played nice?! You never came to see me in the hospital! You completely ignore my pain! I told you a million times I don't want to be just your little sister, but you refuse to listen!"

"Jarrod, in what universe is she better than me?! Are you trying to drive me insane? Fine! If that's what you want, I'll just end it right now!"

Chloe threw her phone against the wall with a deafening crack and bolted for the door!

Jarrod immediately released Stella, lunging forward to catch Chloe by the arm before she could escape. "Stop this right now, or I'm calling Sebastian!"

Seeing his iron grip on her arm, Chloe instantly used the momentum to hurl herself against his chest. She sobbed, "You forced my hand! Why can't you just coax me like you used to?!"
