Seraphina did as she was told. She walked into the bedroom, muttered a quick apology to Margaret, and then turned her tear-filled eyes to George, claiming she was terribly sorry.

George, completely manipulated, patted her shoulder sympathetically before looking at Stella. "Stella, she knows she messed up. You hit her, and you got your anger out. Just let it go, okay?"

Stella wasn't remotely surprised by his reaction. Exhausted by the sheer toxicity of it all, she didn't bother arguing. She simply told him to leave if he had a flight to catch.

George exchanged a few final pleasantries with Margaret before escorting Seraphina out of the room.

Later that morning, Stella drove Margaret and Hannah back to Willow Creek.

She had the local physician do a thorough check-up on her grandmother, and only after he confirmed she was perfectly fine did Stella finally breathe a sigh of relief.

She stayed in the countryside for a day, heading back to Royal Oaks right after lunch the following afternoon.

On the drive back, her phone buzzed with a call from Cassidy Lane.

"Stella, I think I might have caused a huge mess for you," Cassidy began, her voice riddled with guilt.

Stella frowned. "What are you talking about?"

Cassidy sounded utterly miserable as she explained that Chloe had officially started working at the Mythos Online division on Friday. The second Chloe found out Fiona Gable had been fired, she immediately marched into HR and demanded that Cassidy be transferred to act as her personal assistant.

"You've been in the Project Department this entire time. There's no logical reason to transfer you," Stella pointed out.

"That's exactly what I said! I practically got into a screaming match with HR, but they just kept parroting that it was an executive order," Cassidy groaned.

Naturally furious, Cassidy flat-out refused the reassignment, and HR promised to escalate her complaint to upper management.

She thought she'd have until Monday to fight it, but an insider friend in HR tipped her off that morning: the decision was completely finalized and irreversible.

Blind with rage, Cassidy had launched a blistering tirade at Chloe via text!
