George put the call on speaker, the long ringing tone echoing loudly through the quiet living room.

Stella hadn't expected him to be so blatantly distrustful.

She frowned deeply.

Stopping him would only make her look guilty, so she had no choice but to wait in silence.

After a few rings, Jarrod finally answered. "George, what's going on?"

His tone was perfectly flat, betraying no emotion.

The background was quiet, suggesting he had finished his mall inspection.

George forced a hearty laugh. "Jarrod, are you taking a break? Would you like to come over for dinner tonight? Stella is here."

Stella's expression darkened. She despised how George constantly used her as a bargaining chip.

There was a brief pause on the other end before Jarrod replied coolly. "Just tell me what you need, George. I won't be coming for dinner."

George chuckled again, unbothered. "It's nothing major. Stella mentioned she's starting at The Quinn Group on Monday. I'm just a little worried about her lack of experience and whether she can manage the team. I was hoping you might have some time to drop by and give her some pointers?"

George was a cunning old fox. He knew better than to ask directly about The Fuller Group's investments. This way, he showed deference while smoothly testing the waters.

Jarrod easily saw through the underlying motive.

"I wouldn't interfere with your company's internal affairs. However," Jarrod paused slightly before continuing in a smooth, detached tone, "my assistant left a document regarding the termination of our partnership at your house the other day. I'd appreciate it if you could tear it up. I wouldn't want my grandfather catching wind of it and thinking I'm targeting The Quinn Group."
