That night, Jarrod had ended up staying in the master bedroom after all.

Stella was painfully shy and clumsy, but she tried her absolute best to be accommodating.

In the heat of their most intimate moment, his voice went rough as he commanded, "Kiss me."

Stella didn't say a word. She just closed her eyes, trembling as she leaned toward his lips.

Right before they touched, he turned his head away.

Stella opened her eyes, looking at him with anxious uncertainty.

"This is just a marriage of convenience. Fulfilling our physical duties is enough. Kissing really isn't appropriate," he said, his face cold.

Stella froze for a second, then lowered her eyelashes and gave a meek nod. "Mhm. I understand."

Since then, no matter how physically entangled they got, neither of them ever attempted to kiss the other.

But right now, Stella had her arms wrapped tightly around him.

She was actively leaning into the kiss.

As they tangled together, the temperature in the room skyrocketed.

Jarrod had been holding back, mindful of her fever.

But with her practically throwing herself at him like this, all logic went out the window. He grabbed the edge of her towel, ready to push things further—

"Ah!"

Stella suddenly let out a sharp gasp of pain.

During their previous nights together, she had occasionally faked little whimpers to get him to be gentle.

And right now, he was entirely past the point of stopping.

Assuming she was just putting on an act, Jarrod didn't plan on stopping. Gripping her tightly, he pulled her up and sat her right in his lap!

"It hurts! If you keep being rough, I'm going to get mad!"

Stella actually balled up her fists and started pounding against his chest, bursting into loud, miserable sobs. "I'm already hurt, and you don't even care about me..."

Jarrod was speechless.

If she kept messing with his head like this, he was going to lose his mind.

Was she doing this on purpose?!

Jarrod gritted his teeth, forcibly reigning in his desire, and snapped, "Where does it hurt?"

Stella pouted and pointed. "Here. Here. And here..."

She was pointing at her elbow, her knee, and her lower back.

She didn't look like she was faking it. Jarrod turned up the brightness on the bedside lamp to take a look.

Stella immediately yanked the blankets up to cover her chest.

But she left her elbows and knees exposed.

They were definitely scraped up badly. Because she had been soaking in the rain and the bathwater, the skin around the cuts had turned a ghostly white.
