Game Over, Mr. CEO: Your Wife Is Done (Winter and Chris) novel Chapter 482

Chapter 482

At the familiar name, the man’s expression went briefly distant.

He frowned, struggling to keep his emotions under control.

Audrey had never liked seeing him this way.

Sasha watched him, and it felt as if steel needles were stabbing into her heart, one after another. The pain made her chest tighten.

Unable to hold herself back, she said bitterly, “Audrey is dead. Why won’t you just forget her?”

“She’s not dead.”

The middle-aged man pressed his pale lips together, the corners of his eyes reddening.

It was as if he were clinging to something. He repeated, “She’s not dead.”

He turned away and didn’t notice Sasha’s gaze slowly filling with resentment.

Her hand was still braced against the wall, fingers curling so tightly that her nails dug into her palm.

Of course she knew Audrey wasn’t dead.

She even knew exactly where Audrey was.

In the car, Dominic felt his scalp prickle and a chill run down his spine when he heard Chris say that Winter’s parents might still be alive.

“You’re saying they’re still alive? How is that possible? Warren Scott and Audrey Lambert-weren’t they driven to their deaths because of you…”

He stopped mid-sentence, then lowered his voice.

“Are you serious? Don’t scare me like that.”

Even in broad daylight, the topic still sent a chill down his spine.

“Could you be wrong? This is too absurd. How could that even be possible? You must have made a mistake, right?”

The more Dominic spoke, the quieter he became.

Chris wasn’t the kind of man who said things without reason, and he would never joke about something like this.

Chris’s face showed no emotion. Only his dark eyes looked like a bottomless abyss.

He turned his head and looked out the car window at the busy street beyond the glass.

“I’m not wrong.”

In that instant, Dominic understood why Chris was acting this way.

If Chris was saying that, then he must have found some kind of lead.

“You might as well tell Winter directly. Part of the reason she treats you this way is because of what happened to her parents. The other part is because you always choose to hide things from her. If you tell her the truth, wouldn’t that solve both problems?”

Chris didn’t look back.

“Do you think she would believe me?”

His fingers curled into an empty fist. He lowered his eyes to look at his own hand.

“Back then, they died right in front of her.”

Dominic froze.

Back then, Winter had seen her parents die in a pool of blood with her own eyes.

If someone suddenly told her now that the people she had watched die might still be alive, how could she possibly believe it?

If Chris were not someone Dominic trusted completely, even Dominic wouldn’t believe it.

Winter was the person involved, and she was still unwell. This wasn’t the time to shock her with something like that.

Dominic let out a sigh. For a moment, he didn’t know what to say.

In the end, he patted Chris on the shoulder.

“This really is your curse.”

“Move your hand,” Chris said, giving him a flat look.

Dominic pulled his hand back, the amused curiosity in his eyes fading.
