Game Over, Mr. CEO: Your Wife Is Done (Winter and Chris) novel Chapter 466

Chapter 466

Throughout the entire exchange, Gavin stood off to the side and watched. This was Chris’s order. No matter what Winter did, unless her body gave out, Gavin wasn’t to interfere.

Winter let go of the blanket.

“You poisoned yourself just so you could use it to threaten Chris. Skyla, I never knew you were this vicious. You wouldn’t even spare yourself.” Her voice was cold. “But don’t worry. I won’t let the poison kill you. What I just gave you was the antidote.

“Death would be too easy for you.”

Skyla no longer had the strength to fight back. Her hands lay limp on the bed, and she laughed as tears slid down her face.

“What difference does it make? I’m still waiting for a death sentence.”

Winter pulled a tissue from the bedside table and wiped her hands.

“For the sake of the friendship we once had, I’ll hire the best lawyer in the field for you,” she said calmly. “I’ll make sure they fight for life in prison, so you can live long enough to watch my son, Harvey Xander, grow up.”

She tossed the used tissue onto Skyla, then turned and left the room.

The door closed behind her. Inside, there was not a sound. It was as if the person lying in that bed was already dead.

Winter stood quietly outside the door. After a while, she finally spoke.

“Do you know how she poisoned me?”

Gavin looked at her pale profile. After a second of silence, he answered, “That roasted beef sandwich shop you used to like. She paid off one of the employees there.”

Tears slipped down Winter’s face.

So that was how it had happened.

Gavin didn’t need to say the rest. Everything was clear now.

After she got pregnant, she had lost her appetite and bought those sandwiches several times. At first, the slow-acting poison had left no obvious trace. But over time, it had built up in her body little by little, and in the end, it had harmed her child.

Winter slowly made her way back to her room, step by step. Then she suddenly stopped.

Gavin stopped with her and lifted his eyes to her back. She looked even thinner than before, almost fragile.

Her head was lowered. No one could tell what she was thinking.

Night had fully fallen. They were standing near the window, and outside, a full moon hung in the dark sky.

Moonlight spilled over her like water.

Her lips moved slightly.

“Are you really Ray?”

A sharp glint flickered through Gavin’s dark brown eyes.

Winter looked up at the moon outside, then continued walking. A quiet murmur trailed behind her.

Chris glanced at the moon outside. His dark eyes looked as if they had been veiled in mist.

Winter hadn’t even questioned him.

She had completely given up on him.

Late that night, when everything was quiet, Chris silently approached Winter’s bed and lifted the blanket.

But the person who should have been sleeping there was gone.

His hand froze.

His men had the entire building surrounded. She had no way out.

And now that she knew her child was here, she would never willingly leave.

She was still in the hospital.

The next second, he released the blanket, turned, and left the room.

He took the elevator to the ICU floor.

Sure enough, outside the isolation room, Winter was sitting on the floor with her knees hugged to her chest, leaning against the wall.

She had fallen asleep.
