Game Over, Mr. CEO: Your Wife Is Done (Winter and Chris) novel Chapter 465

Chapter 465

“Because I had filthy blood running through my veins, Victor never cared about me. Ever since I was a child, he hated me. He abused me. He hit me, cursed me, and when I turned eighteen, he ever tried to marry me off to some disgusting old man. When I refused, he locked me up and starved me. Compared to me, you were lucky. You were happy.”

If this had been the Winter from years ago, she would have felt sorry for Skyla.

But now, hearing all of this, Winter only found it absurd.

“Was your misery my fault?”

“No,” Skyla said, taking a deep breath. “But couldn’t you have just stayed in your safe, privileged fittle world? Why did you have to fight me for Chris?

“If I had married Chris, I could have finally been happy. I could have left everything in my past behind. But you had to get in the way.”

Skyla braced both hands against the bed and tried to force herself up.

But no matter how hard she tried, even with the veins standing out on the backs of her hands, she couldn’t sit up. She glared at Winter with a twisted expression and spat out the cruelest curse she could.

“I hate you, Winter. I wish you were dead!”

Smack.

A sharp slap landed across Skyla’s face.

“So you poisoned me?” Winter’s eyes had been calm as still water, but now ripples broke across the surface. A crack opened, and the hatred that surged through it seemed strong enough to swallow Skyla whole.

Skyla laughed through her tears. “Yes. I wanted both you and that baby dead. Who knew your life would be so hard to take? But at least I managed to stop…”

Smack.

Winter slapped her again, hard enough to cut off the vicious words before Skyla could finish.

She knew what Skyla had wanted to say.

The thought of everything Richie had suffered, of her one-year-old son still being only as small as a baby half his age, felt like someone had carved a hole straight through Winter’s chest.

But thank God he was still here.

Thank God.

For the rest of her life, she could protect him. She could stay with him.

“He can call me Mommy now. His eyes and brows look like mine. His nose and mouth look like Chris’s. He’s sweet, and he’s very smart.”

“Where is he?” Skyla’s eyes went wide with fury.

Her violent struggle actually forced her upright for a second, but in the next moment, Winter slapped her back down onto the bed.

That slap used up what little strength Winter had left. She steadied herself with one hand on the bed rail and looked down at Skyla’s pathetic struggle.

“You don’t deserve to know where he is,” Winter said. “And you don’t deserve to see him.”

After catching her breath, Winter suddenly grabbed Skyla’s jaw and forced a pill into her mouth.

She moved too fast, with a ruthless force that left Skyla no chance to resist. Skyla’s jaw was held tight, and her mouth was forced open. The pill slid straight down her throat.

“Ugh!”

Realizing what Winter had given her, Skyla strained as if trying to cough the pill back up.

But Winter grabbed the edge of the blanket and pressed it firmly over Skyla’s mouth. She didn’t let go until Skyla’s face flushed and Winter was certain the pill had been swallowed. Only then did she release her.
