Game Over, Mr. CEO: Your Wife Is Done (Winter and Chris) novel Chapter 453

Chapter 453

William knew better than anyone how much Winter had once looked forward to that child.

It was the first time he had ever seen that kind of softness in her.

A mother’s love for a baby who hadn’t even been born yet.

In a hospital room guarded by both the police and Chris’s bodyguards, Skyla lay on the bed with tubes connected all over her body. The machines beside her kept her vital signs steady.

The lower half of the blanket lay flat against the mattress.

There was no shape of legs beneath it.

Skyla had lost both legs in the explosion. She was paralyzed from the waist down and had become disabled in the truest sense.

She would spend the rest of her life in a wheelchair.

Even if she got the chance to leave this place anyway.

But she wouldn’t.

She had harmed more than one life. She might not even live to see next spring before her sentence was carried out.

Skyla tossed restlessly, and a broken whimper slipped from her throat.

Chris had already turned over the evidence of her crimes to the police.

“Where is Chris? I want to see him.”

Except for routine checks by doctors and nurses, no one entered this room.

No matter how much she called out, no one answered her.

Then the door opened. A nurse came in to change her IV.

“Is Winter dead?” Skyla asked, her voice low and chilling.

The medical staff had heard that question countless times over the past few days.

Every time someone came near her, Skyla asked the same thing.

“Is Winter dead?”

But no one ever answered.

They had been ordered not to speak to her.

After changing the IV, the nurse left. The door opened and closed, and the light shifted briefly before the room fell dim again.

Skyla shut her eyes.

Skyla was clearly no longer fully sane.

Gavin’s face remained expressionless.

“Your blood is useless now.”

“Impossible!” Skyla’s raspy voice suddenly rose. “The only reason he tolerated me again and again was so I could recover, so he could use my blood. I already confirmed it. He needs my blood!”

“That used to be true,” Gavin said coldly.

His eyes held only disgust.

“But now there’s a better bone marrow donor. Filthy blood like yours isn’t even worth using.”

Skyla’s expression changed.

“What did you just say?”

Bone marrow donor?

She braced both hands against the bed. The IV needle in the back of her hand was pressed down by the movement, and the fluid in the bag stopped dripping.

But no matter how hard she tried, her paralyzed body wouldn’t obey her.

She couldn’t even sit up on her own.
