Game Over, Mr. CEO: Your Wife Is Done (Winter and Chris) novel Chapter 387

Chapter 387

Servers brought the dishes in one after another, and Winter realized Jimmy had ordered all her favorites.

Jimmy wasn’t only her graduate school advisor. When she was in elementary school, she and Skyla had become friends. Because Victor had never liked Skyla, Skyla often spent weekends at Jimmy’s house, and she would usually invite Winter along.

From that time on, Jimmy had always treated Winter well. Sometimes, Winter even felt that he treated her better than he treated Skyla.

He said it was because seeing her reminded him of her mother, his old classmate.

So after Winter and Skyla fell out, Jimmy had never taken sides. He treated Winter the same as before.

Winter used the serving utensils to place some food on his plate too.

“Have you not been sleeping well? You don’t look too good.”

“Do I?” Jimmy tightened his grip on his fork, and his gaze darkened slightly. “Maybe a little. I’ve had a project recently.”

“You should get some rest.” Winter ladled him a bowl of soup.

Jimmy glanced at her. “You eat too.”

Winter nodded.

For the rest of the meal, she and Jimmy chatted on and off, and the atmosphere was pleasant.

Then a message came in on Jimmy’s phone.

He tapped it open. It was from an unfamiliar number.

“Professor Freeman, I’ll leave your side of things to you. I’ve already made the rest of the arrangements.‘

Jimmy’s hand froze around his fork.

It was as if he could hear that stranger’s polite, refined voice through the words on the screen.

But that politeness was only a mask. Beneath it was something cold, dangerous, and cruel, like a snake flicking its tongue in the dark.

Jimmy couldn’t let anyone discover his secret.

It had taken too much for him to get to where he was now. He would never let anyone destroy it.

“Winnie.”

Winter was drinking her soup. When she heard Jimmy call her, she looked up and asked, “What is it, Professor?”

Yesterday, she had noticed something off about Zion. He kept walking strangely, sticking his rear out a little, and he couldn’t seem to sit or stand comfortably. After she pressed him, Zion finally admitted, awkwardly and reluctantly, that his hemorrhoids had flared up.

So today, she had forced him to take the day off and go to the hospital to get them treated properly.

William had arranged for two bodyguards to follow behind her car.

In the dim basement of the villa, Skyla leaned against the corner, her bloodshot eyes dull and lifeless.

She could no longer remember how long it had been since she had slept.

So much time had passed since her antidote had been taken. The test results should have come back long ago. There was no reason for Chris not to give her the antidote.

She kept feeling that something was not that simple.

Since Chris hadn’t gotten rid of her, it meant she was still useful to him.

He cared so much about her blood, yet he deliberately refused to give her the antidote. It made no sense.

From the moment she had walked right into his trap and then revealed that she had the antidote, it had looked as if she was the one holding power over Chris.

But after thinking it through carefully, she reached a conclusion that made her blood run cold.
