Game Over, Mr. CEO: Your Wife Is Done (Winter and Chris) novel Chapter 386

She took the man’s hand and led him to a dining chair.

“I had the restaurant prepare your favorite pasta, but I made the cake myself. You have to try some later and tell me if it’s good.”

His favorite pasta and a homemade cake.

The man turned to look at her, his gaze meaningful. “I didn’t help you save Steve. Aren’t you angry?”

“I was angry at the time.” Sasha held his arm. “But I care about you more. I thought it through. If you had stepped in and exposed yourself, your life would have been in danger. It wouldn’t have been worth it.”

“He’s your son.” The man didn’t touch the pasta.

“But you’re the man I love.” Sasha took his hand and kissed it.

The man suddenly pulled his hand back, his eyes turning cold. “I appreciate the birthday gesture, but I should go.

He stood.

But Sasha held on to his sleeve and refused to let go.

“You’re always in such a hurry. I had someone check. He’s working late and won’t be home anytime soon. Stay with me a little longer, okay?”

The man shook his arm, but Sasha only held on tighter.

“I told you, I can’t let him get suspicious. Even if he isn’t home, he’ll still know how long I was gone.” As he spoke, he turned slightly, pulled back the curtain, and looked outside.

The restaurant was in a quiet part of Liono City, tucked away from the busiest streets. The people who came here were all wealthy or well connected. No random outsiders could easily get in.

There was no need to worry too much about being exposed.

Then his gaze suddenly stopped on the parking lot.

Sasha noticed his body go rigid. Curious, she stepped forward and followed his line of sight. To her surprise, she saw Winter getting out of a car.

She hadn’t expected Winter to come here for dinner too.

Smiling, she rested a hand on the man’s shoulder. “Thanks to me, you get to see Winnie again so soon.”

So she told him that she planned to become a freelance journalist.

After hearing her plan, Jimmy fell silent for a few seconds, then said, “That could work. There would be fewer restrictions and more freedom. It would also make it easier for you to become a war correspondent.”

“That’s what I was thinking too.”

Jimmy sighed. “Even if you don’t tell me the reason, I can probably guess. Chris won’t let you go to Eveland, and now you’ve quit your job. You’re trying to get away from him, aren’t you?”

Since Jimmy had seen through her, Winter could only nod.

Seeing the worry weighing on her, Jimmy shook his head and sighed again.

“You must be hungry. Let’s eat first.”

He used the serving utensils to place some food on Winter’s plate. A complicated look flickered in his eyes.

“Eat more. You’ve lost weight again lately.”
