Game Over, Mr. CEO: Your Wife Is Done (Winter and Chris) novel Chapter 336

Chapter 336

She set the glass of milk down and turned, striding toward the house’s exit. She had barely taken two steps when Chris caught her wrist and pulled her back into his arms.

He lifted her chin, forcing her to look up at him.

The humiliation of being played made her words sharp with sarcasm. “What? Did I say something wrong?”

Wasn’t he experienced? Wasn’t he the one who kept her completely in the dark?

Chris stared at her, at the redness in her eyes as she fought to hold back the sting of it. His fingers tightened slightly against her chin.

Then she thought she heard him sigh. His grip on her wrist tightened as well.

The faint calluses on his fingers brushed against her skin, sending a subtle, tingling sensation through her. She resisted it instinctively, but she couldn’t ignore it.

“It was just a staged photo to sell the cover. There was no marriage license.”

At the time, his superiors had wanted him to enter into a cover marriage with the informant. The most he had agreed to was taking a photo. He refused to put his name on any official documents with her.

Chris watched her closely. She seemed caught off guard by his answer. His gaze darkened as he asked quietly, ” You don’t believe me?”

Winter brushed his hand away from her chin and turned to look at the flowers swaying in the breeze. She pressed her lips together and said nothing.

They stood there for a moment before she tried to pull her wrist free. The instant she moved, his grip tightened again, stopping her.

“Do you believe me or not?”

“All I know is that everything comes from you,” she said, her voice edged with exhaustion and mockery. “Back then, you said you wouldn’t divorce me. Now you say you never married that informant. So which of your words are real and which are lies? I honestly can’t tell anymore.’

“If you don’t believe me, why ask?” His voice tightened.

She shook her head and let out a self-mocking laugh. “Yeah. Why did I even ask? I guess I was just bored, looking for something to say.”

“If you’re bored, I’ll take you out on the water.”

“What are you trying to do?” Her voice rose sharply as she looked at him, confused and frustrated.

His voice came out low and rough. “Isn’t this what you liked?”

His words seemed to scatter in the sea breeze.

Winter froze. What did she like?

The wind moved through the island again, brushing through the flowers. Tall blooms grazed past her fingertips as they swayed.

She didn’t understand why he had suddenly said that.

What she liked?

Then her gaze landed on the lake in the distance, surrounded by flowers.

It was crescent-shaped.

She slowly turned toward it, and the memory broke through all at once.
