Game Over, Mr. CEO: Your Wife Is Done (Winter and Chris) novel Chapter 112

By early evening, Skyla finally heard that Chris had hit Zac at the hospital around lunchtime.

She immediately told her caregiver to have the car brought around and headed to Blackwood Manor. On the way, she almost called Dominic, but while Dominic was loose–lipped about plenty of things, he kept his mouth shut when it came to Chris and Zac. She doubted she would get anything useful from him.

“Where did Mr. Xander hit Dr. Davis today?” she asked the bodyguard in the front seat.

“At the ENT department of the hospital owned by the Xander Corporation,” he said. “We only heard that Mr. Xander hit Dr. Davis. We don’t know anything else.”

ENT.

Skyla repeated the letters in her head, and Winter’s face flashed through her mind.

Of course. Today was Winter’s follow–up for her eardrum.

How had she forgotten?

Chris was fiercely loyal. He had always treated Zac and Dominic well. People even joked that those two were his real brothers, and that Steve was the outsider.

Chris wouldn’t hit Zac for no reason. Even if something happened, it wouldn’t normally escalate to a fight.

There was only one explanation. Zac must have admitted he liked Winter right in front of Chris.

Skyla had known for a long time that Zac had feelings for Winter. He was careful about it, almost too careful. If she hadn’t stumbled onto it once by accident, she would never have noticed.

Chris was even sharper than she was. He might have sensed it too, but since Zac never crossed a line, Chris had let it slide.

A man’s possessiveness alone wasn’t enough to make Chris lash out. And Winter wouldn’t do anything to betray Chris while they were still married.

So what had pushed him this far?

A thought formed, and a cold, hard light flashed in Skyla’s eyes.

Before the car could enter Blackwood Manor, the gate security stopped them.

The window lowered. Skyla turned to the guard blocking them. “I’m Skyla Jasper. I’m here to see Mr. Xander.

“Ms. Jasper.” The guard nodded respectfully, glanced into the car, then raised the barrier and waved them through.

A guard got out with an umbrella. The caregiver lifted Skyla out and settled her into her wheelchair, then pushed her inside.

Hearing the noise, Mrs. Young thought Winter was home. She came out smiling, drying her hands as she walked.

“Ma’am, you’re…”

She stopped mid–sentence.

It wasn’t Winter.

It was a young woman in a wheelchair, mid–twenties, with a gentle, delicate face.

Mrs. Young immediately realized who she was. Skyla Jasper.

Her smile disappeared, replaced by polite reserve. “Ms. Jasper, what brings you here?”

“Where’s Chris?” Skyla asked, lifting her chin. She wasn’t outright rude, but there was something in her tone that made her feel above everyone in the room.
