Luella Langley was the first to play along, teasing deliberately, "Such an amazing girl, and you actually managed to win her over. Not bad at all."

Melvin, who had been riding high on happiness, immediately dropped his smile. "Are you guys my friends and family or what?"

Kurt grabbed the bike, refusing to let go. "For a fit, incredibly handsome, sunny young guy like me to walk alone in the dark... that's highly dangerous."

Ebony turned her head, looking at him as if he were a complete idiot. She didn't hold back: "Try talking like a normal person, or I'll run you over."

Kurt tilted his head up, his eyes wide and utterly pathetic. "I have training tomorrow. If I get back too late, I won't get enough sleep, and if I'm exhausted tomorrow, it'll drag down your session, won't it?"
