Don't Mess with the Girl with Candy novel Chapter 1730

Over the next few weeks.

Kurt's life was divided into four main stops: the studio, the racing association, his startup, and Ebony Fox's apartment.

He was practically juggling multiple full-time jobs.

Every day, when he wasn't buried in his projects, he was obsessing over new recipes.

In just half a month, Ebony Fox had noticeably put on some healthy weight.

Evening.

After dinner, Kurt tied an apron around his waist and began cleaning up the kitchen.

Ebony Fox stood by with a glass of lemonade, watching him work.

He was getting surprisingly skilled at these domestic chores.

"Pineapple for dessert?" Holding the fridge door open, he arched an eyebrow at her. "I tasted one earlier. It's not overly sweet."

"Sure."

She nodded, setting her glass down. Walking over to the sink, she leaned against the counter and watched him slice the fruit, casually recapping her day at the studio.

No matter what she said, he always had a thoughtful response ready.

"Try a piece."

He cut a small chunk and held it to her lips, his eyes sparkling with anticipation. "If it's good, I'll buy more next time."

She took a bite, the rich, vibrant taste of pineapple bursting across her tongue.

It was the perfect balance of sweet and tart—exactly how she loved it.

Truth be told, she really enjoyed pineapple, but could rarely find the right flavor profile.

Eventually, she had just given up on buying them altogether.

She hadn't realized Kurt was such an expert at picking fruit.

Only later would she find out.

The reason he managed to find the exact flavor she loved was because he had personally taste-tested dozens of pineapples just to narrow it down.

"Is it good?" He pulled a tissue and gently dabbed at the corner of her mouth.

"It's great."

She nodded, taking the tissue to wipe her own mouth. "When are you heading abroad for the test flight?"

"Next Monday." Having washed and dried his hands, he stepped into her space, enveloping both of her hands in his. "I might be gone for about ten days."

"Oh." She hummed softly. On the surface, she looked entirely unbothered, but a faint trace of disappointment leaked into her voice.
