Don't Mess with the Girl with Candy novel Chapter 1577

"Ah—"

She buried her face in her bed, pulling the blanket over her head, desperately trying not to let out a squeal of excitement.

The person she liked, liked her back.

There was absolutely nothing more perfect in this world.

She was too excited.

Janet clutched the bracelet, staying awake the entire night.

The next morning, she walked out of her room feeling groggy, only to bump straight into Juniper.

"J-Juniper."

Seeing Juniper made Janet instantly feel incredibly guilty.

"Morning."

Juniper raised an eyebrow at her, seemingly in a great mood. "What's wrong? Didn't sleep well last night?"

"Yeah."

Janet nodded slightly, avoiding eye contact.

Since Juniper asked like that, it meant she didn't know about her and Melvin yet, right?

That was fine.

She hadn't figured out how to tell her anyway, so she could use the breather.

Downstairs.

Shanley was talking to Melvin. Hearing the footsteps, both men turned around at the same time.

"Juniper doesn't have class until this afternoon, and we need to head to the Sigma Network this morning, so we might not be going the same way."

Shanley opened the car door, shielding the roof with his hand so Juniper could slide in. "Coach Melvin, drop Janet off for us."

"Got it."

Melvin nodded casually. Once Shanley's car pulled away, he opened the passenger door and looked at Janet. "I'll drop you off. Get in."

"Don't you have to go to work?"

Janet bit her lip gently, standing glued to the spot as she asked quietly.

"The company isn't busy." Melvin held the door open, casually taking Janet's bag and tossing it into the backseat so she couldn't possibly run away.

With no other choice, Janet dragged her heavy feet into the car and fastened her seatbelt.

"Bought you breakfast," Melvin said, handing her a small box.

"Did you eat?"

Melvin suddenly grabbed Janet's wrist and asked pitifully, "Tomorrow is your birthday, and Juniper booked a table for you at Moonlight Peak?"

"Yeah."

Janet froze, the heat from his hand feeling like it was burning her skin.

"Then why didn't I get an invite?" Melvin pressed, looking somewhat upset.

"I just found out about it this morning." Janet felt helpless.

"So, are you going to invite me?" Melvin held onto her hand, refusing to let go.

"If I don't invite you, will you not go?" Janet blinked, asking quite seriously.

"I will go!"

"Then why are you even asking?" Janet's cheeks flushed crimson. She forcefully pulled her hand back and said in a sweet voice, "Thanks for the ride. I have to get to class."

Before Melvin could respond, Janet was already sprinting away.

Melvin: ?

So was that a yes, or a no?

However, she didn't call him Mr. Steele this time.

Whatever. At tomorrow's birthday party, he was going to get his answer no matter what.
