Better Late, But Never His Again novel Chapter 130

Hazel's fingers abruptly stopped.

She slowly turned her head, meeting Evelyn's amused gaze. Seeing the pure malice glinting in the other woman's eyes sent a blinding wave of rage rushing straight to her head.

The next second, she grabbed Evelyn's arm and yanked her down hard.

Evelyn let out a shriek as she was dragged to the ground, her palms landing squarely in the pile of garbage, smearing her pristine dress with filth.

She scrambled backward, jumping to her feet. "Hazel, you psycho!"

Hazel stood up, her bloodshot eyes glaring daggers. "Evelyn," she gritted out through clenched teeth. "You'd better pray I find that letter."

Her gaze was as cold as ice. "Otherwise, I will make you pay a devastating price."

Evelyn froze for a moment before suddenly bursting into laughter.

She brushed the debris off her dress, tilting her chin up to look at Hazel with a raised eyebrow.

"You guessed right, Hazel. I did throw that letter away on purpose."

Hazel's fingers curled into tight fists, the blood roaring in her ears.

"But so what?" Evelyn tilted her head. "With Julian protecting me, exactly what price can you make me pay?"

She took a step forward, instantly closing the distance between them.

"Even if you ran inside right now and told him I threw it away on purpose, do you really think he'd believe you?"

She smirked. "Who do you think he'll trust? You, or me?"

Hazel's heart sank.

She knew Evelyn was telling the truth. Julian wouldn't believe her.

In his eyes, Evelyn was so sweet and kind-hearted that she wouldn't even hurt a fly. He would never believe she was capable of something so malicious.

But Hazel? In Julian's eyes, she was the type of person who would jump out of a second-story window to escape, the type who was too stubborn to simply apologize.

He would never believe her.
