Sebastian didn't answer.
He stood right in front of her, his head tilted down slightly. The heavy shadows cast by his eyelashes completely obscured the depths of his eyes.
Then, he dropped two words: "Kiss me."
Audrina thought she had misheard. "...What?"
Then it clicked. This man had definitely pulled some strings to get Zachary out of the room!
"Kiss me, Audrina," he repeated, enunciating every single syllable with agonizing clarity. "Kiss me, and I'll tell you."
The overhead light hit him perfectly, slicing his face into sharp contrasts—half bathed in light, half swallowed by the dark.
Audrina stared at the man in front of her.
His suit was impeccably tailored, his tie knotted flawlessly, and his expression was as cold and detached as if he were presenting facts in a courtroom. Yet the words coming out of his mouth completely ripped away his pristine, gentlemanly disguise.
The dangerous, borderline-feral energy radiating off him began to fill the room. When he finally let the crazy out, it was undeniably intoxicating.
Fine. Let's play.
Audrina took a step forward, grabbed him by the tie, and yanked him down.
His head dipped.
She crashed her lips against his.
She bit down on his lower lip, her tongue forcing its way past his teeth, fueled by the alcohol, the sheer rage, and the chaotic, unspeakable tension that had been festering between them all this time.
Sebastian grabbed her by the waist, kissing her back with a ferocity that shattered all her expectations. His other hand tangled in the hair at the back of her head, locking her in place, refusing to let her pull back, refusing to let her escape.
Audrina was trapped against his chest, her back shoved against the edge of the dining table. A wine glass tipped over, the dark liquid spilling out and staining the crisp tablecloth.
Their breathing turned completely ragged, tangling together until it was impossible to tell whose was burning hotter.
Deep into the kiss, Audrina suddenly wrenched her head to the side, breaking the contact.
She couldn't let this spiral any further out of control.
She shoved against his chest. "Now, are you going to tell me?"
Sebastian's eyes were pitch-black. His Adam's apple bobbed heavily as he shoved one hand casually into his pocket.
Thoroughly satisfied by the kiss, a slow smirk spread across his lips. "Next time."
Audrina scowled. "You—"
"The necklace is beautiful," he cut her off, his eyes dropping to the four-leaf clover resting against her collarbone. He stared at it for a second before looking away. "But it doesn't suit you."
