Bait for a Gentleman novel Chapter 59

The car was completely silent, while outside, the snow began to fall.

At first, only a few stray flakes drifted onto the windshield. But as they drove, the snow grew heavier, melting the second it touched the warm glass. The flakes dissolved into beads of water that merged into thin streams, trickling crookedly down the glass.

The glow from the streetlamps bled through the water streaks, scattering the light and washing the car cabin in a warm, amber hue.

The moment Sebastian heard Audrina say the words "preparing for a baby" with her own mouth, a million thoughts had already raced through his mind.

She had told him he was just a convenient tool.

Was she planning to use him and throw him away the second she was done?

He truly didn't believe she would actually try to have a baby with Zachary under these circumstances.

But the two of them had stood side-by-side right in front of him, looking exactly like a loving, married couple.

If he had stayed there a second longer, he was terrified he would have lost control.

He genuinely hadn't wanted to talk to her these past two days.

It wasn't that he didn't want to—he was just afraid that the moment he opened his mouth, nothing but accusations would spill out.

And as of right now, he had no status, no right to demand answers from her.

But now, Audrina was saying she wanted to go home with him.

She was leaning against his shoulder, her breaths puffing softly against his skin, tangling with his own in the enclosed space of the car.

He could feel the heat radiating from her body.

With just a slight turn of his head, he could see her long eyelashes curling upward, her vibrant eyes blinking as she waited for his answer.

"Audrina," he called her name.

"Yeah?"

"When you want to piss someone off, you really don't hold back." He ruthlessly called her out. "Slapping me in the face at the hospital, and then offering me a piece of candy."

"And now you want to go home with me?"

Sebastian used his momentum to press her back against the passenger seat, leaning in dangerously close. "Do you know what going home with me means?"

Audrina bit her red lip, staying perfectly quiet.

Of course she knew.

She had been the one baiting this man all along.

But the second he ignored her for a few days, she willingly delivered herself right to his doorstep.

As for why—

Her gaze drifted downward, landing on his lean, muscular waist...

The living room was massive, the decor minimalist yet incredibly high-end.

Just like the man himself, it gave off a distinctly cold, detached vibe.

"I haven't eaten yet," Sebastian said. "I'll have some food sent up."

Then, he issued a direct order. "Keep me company."

She had the nerve to live it up these past few days, eating well and sleeping soundly, didn't she?

Meanwhile, he had been so furious he couldn't eat or sleep.

"Alright then," Audrina said. "Can I take a shower first?"

"Yeah."

Sebastian pulled out his phone to order the food, but Audrina remained glued to her spot.

He glanced up at her. "Didn't you say you wanted to shower?"

Audrina asked, "Can I borrow one of your shirts?"

Without another word, Sebastian walked into his massive closet, pulled out a clean white dress shirt, and handed it to her.

By the time Audrina finished her shower, the piping hot food had just arrived.
