Natasha took a deep breath, feeling she had no choice but to admit it. “Percy visited me at the hospital.”

Jared froze for a moment, his lips twitching as if he had something to say. But in the end, he swallowed his words, his knuckles clenched, veins bulging on the back of his hand.

The atmosphere in the car grew tense and heavy, a silent standoff hanging between them. “I’m going home,” Natasha opened the car door and stepped out, leaving without looking back.

When Natasha got home, she felt a little hungry. She grabbed her phone and ordered some takeout. Then she plopped down on the couch and turned on the television.

She couldn’t believe it when the news reported that Percy’s older brother, Brent, had passed away. Her head was buzzing. her mind going completely blank. She was completely stunned, frozen in place.

‘Brent is dead!” Natasha was shocked; her mind reeling. It finally made sense to Natasha why Percy had suddenly started acting so weird after receiving that call in the hospital room. That must have been when he found out about Brent’s death.

Natasha collapsed onto the couch. Her chest was a storm of emotions, waves crashing inside her. ‘Brent is dead now. That means Percy has become the sole heir of the Grosso family.

to react.

None of it really mattered to her anymore. After all, she and Percy were already divorced. Whether he was an illegitimate son or the new heir, it was irrelevant to her.

News of Brent’s death was blowing up all over social media. While people online were lamenting his early demise, they couldn’t believe Percy had lucked out and suddenly risen to the top.

Her phone ringing snapped her out of her thoughts. It was Collin calling. “The stuff you wanted is in your inbox now,” Collin said.

“Got it, thanks!” Natasha replied.

Just as Natasha was about to hang up, Collin interrupted, “Hold on!”

“Anything else?” Natasha asked.

“Did you hear the news? Brent is dead! Your husband, Percy, is gonna be the new heir of the Grosso family!”
