Natasha’s eyes widened in shock. She was stunned that he had said something so bold. “I haven’t even been discharged yet,” Natasha protested, her voice trembling. ‘Why is this guy so obsessed with that stuff?’ she grumbled inwardly, feeling both annoyed and helpless.

Jared pressed his forehead against hers, his voice low and playful. “So, once you’re out of here, you’ll sleep with me?”

Natasha could feel the heat radiating off him. ‘He’s seriously craving me, she thought. She never expected that just one kiss could get him so turned on.

Natasha replied reluctantly, “Maybe when I’m fully recovered, we’ll see.”

Jared gave her one last kiss, helped her pack up her things, and escorted her out of the hospital. They got into his sleek ride. Jared never let go of her waist, keeping her close by his side.

The engine purred to life as the car rolled out slowly. Suddenly, Jared’s voice was right in her ear. “Do you want to lodge a police report?”

If she hadn’t been injured at Whittier Manor, he would have already lodged a police report. But since it happened at Whittier Manor, and it was her own family member who had injured her, he didn’t decide for her, but sought her opinion instead.

Natasha’s expression grave, conflicted. “Let’s hold on for now,” she said quietly, her voice tinged with hesitation.

Joelle had deliberately shoved her down the stairs this time. Natasha figured it was only right to lodge a police report. But the issue was that it happened at Whittier Manor. Even if the servants saw everything, Bernard and Roxanne would never let

them be her witnesses.

Besides, to the Whittier family, Joelle roughing up her little sister was nothing worth fussing over. If Natasha lodged a report, she would have no proof, and the Whittiers would most probably stop her. It just wasn’t worth the trouble.

Jared reached out and took her hand, intertwining their fingers tightly. “Don’t be afraid. I’m around,” he said gently.

Natasha’s heart trembled as she turned to meet his gaze. No one had ever said this to her before. Even her ex-husband, Percy, never took her side whenever she had conflicts with her family. For him not joining the Whittiers in making her life harder was already a miracle.

Natasha would be lying if she said she wasn’t touched. But deep down, Natasha knew she couldn’t leverage Jared’s power to fight the Whittier family.

After all, her father had always wanted to cozy up to Harley, going so far as to use her, by any means necessary, to go after Jared.
