Jared was relieved he had made it to the private room just in time. If he had been even a second later, things could have gone really bad. Natasha nodded and didn’t ask further.
But Jared gently wrapped her cold, delicate hand in his warm palm. “I’m sorry I was late,” he said softly.
Natasha shook her head and smiled gently. “You weren’t late. If you hadn’t shown up in time, I might’ve…” She lowered her gaze, unable to get the words out.
A few stray strands framed her face, her hair messy and giving her a fragile, vulnerable look. She didn’t realize that this appearance only stirred a man’s urge to conquer and possess her.
A flicker of heartfelt sympathy flashed in Jared’s eyes. He reached out and drew her into his embrace. “I promise, what happened tonight will never happen again,” he murmured.
Just thinking about it now sent chills down his spine. He even wished he hadn’t gone on that business trip. He had left her all alone, making her vulnerable to danger.
Natasha melted into Jared’s embrace without any resistance. The events of tonight still lingered in her mind, leaving her unsettled. Her heart was still racing, unable to calm down.
“But why did your friend take you to meet Felix by herself? Didn’t you all know about his reputation before meeting him?” Jared asked, his gaze deep and searching.
Natasha’s face grew serious. “Dorothy’s had a few deals fall through lately. She was so anxious that she took me to meet Felix by herself.”
‘Dorothy’s always been strong-willed and competitive. How could she allow herself to fail again and again? She’s been so determined to secure this deal that she ended up falling right into Felix’s trap,’ Natasha thiought.
“All fell through?” Jared’s hazel eyes flashed with something unreadable.
Natasha let out a helpless sigh. “Yeah, it was such a coincidence. All her deals fell through for various reasons. This was her last and only hope.”
Natasha had wanted to help her best friend close the deal, and that was how she ended up in trouble. Jared narrowed his eyes, feeling something off. ‘No way all this is just a coincidence,’ he mused.
“Let’s go to my place,” Jared said gently; he couldn’t let her be alone again. Natasha didn’t refuse, just nodded, still nestled in his arms.
When they got to Jared’s villa, he carried Natasha out of the car and headed upstairs to his bedroom. Without a second thought, he placed her on the bed he usually slept in.
Natasha sat up quickly. “I… I should sleep in the guest room,” she said.
Even though she had come back with him, she didn’t intend to claim his room or his bed. Ağer what Felix had put her through tonight, Natasha really wasn’t in the mood for any intimacy.
“Just sleep here tonight,” Jared said. He settled her back onto the bed, and seeing how nervous she was, he promised, “Don’t worry; I won’t do anything to you.”
Natasha quickly turned her head away, her cheeks blushing with embarrassment. “That’s not what I meant,” Natasha said quickly, a bit flustered.
Jared’s lips curled into a teasing smile. “But if you want to thank me in a more personal way, I won’t refuse,” he said.

Natasha reached out against his chest as he leaned in, her heart racing with anxiety. ‘Is he really expecting something like that?’ Natasha thought. Although he had saved her tonight, the thought of offering herself to him didn’t sit right with her.
Jared could read her mind; his eyes dimmed a little. He sighed and reassured her, “Just relax and rest well.” Then he gently tucked the blanket around her. Natasha nodded quietly.
Jared smiled, amused by how sweet and obedient she looked for once. He turned off the lights and left the bedroom. The room was plunged into darkness.
Natasha closed her eyes, trying to get some sleep, but she couldn’t drift off. ‘This is Jared’s bedroom. His scent and presence are everywhere, she thought.
She couldn’t help but feel a bit out of place. It almost felt like she was already sharing a bed with him. Natasha shook her head, trying to snap herself out of it. She tried to stop her mind from wandering any further.
