Suddenly, it clicked. Felix realized who Jared was. His eyes widened in terror, pupils contracting. “M-Mr. Rundell?” he gasped, cold sweat breaking out on his forehead.

Realizing he had messed with someone he should never have crossed, he scrambled to his feet, shaking and practically groveling as he tried to reach out and shake Jared’s hand.

“It’s a misunderstanding. Mr. Rundell, I never expected you’d come to a place like this…” Feliux stammered.

He had thought he was merely messing with a random female employee from their company. After all, he had pulled this kind of crap on women before. He never expected Natasha to be someone he couldn’t mess with, and Jared turned out to be her backer.

The manager desperately tried to explain himself, scrambling for excuses. But the bodyguard just booted him away.” Get lost!” the bodyguard barked.

Felix landed flat on his back, his head spinning. But he wasn’t so dumb that he didn’t know exactly how badly he had screwed up and who he had offended.

He dropped to his knees in front of Jared, desperation written all over his face. “Mr. Rundell, I was blind, I was out of my mind with lust. Please give me a chance,” he pleaded.

He knew all too well how much he had pulled strings and called in favors to get this manager post at Ridgeway Group. If he pissed off someone as powerful as Jared, he would lose everything.

Jared’s gaze was cold and unyielding, his expression utterly unmoved. Seeing there was no hope with Jared, Felix looked pleadingly at Natasha. He crawled over to her on his knees, groveling and knocking his head on the floor over and over.

“I’m sorry, Ms. Whittier! I was blind; I didn’t realize who I was dealing with! Please forgive me. Give me another chance!” he pleaded desperately.

Natasha struggled to keep her disgust in check. She couldn’t even be bothered to look at him. Now Felix was finally freaking

out.

“Wasn’t he acting all high and mighty when it was just Dorothy and me in the room? Truth is, he’s only scared of money and power, and Jared. He’s never actually felt guilty for what he’s done,’ Natasha thought to herself.

When Natasha wouldn’t even look at him, Felkix crawled toward her on his knees. But Jared’s bodyguard booted him away and said, “She’s Mr. Rundell’s woman. You couldn’t afford to pay for even a single strand of her hair, even if you lost everything!”

Felix was dumbfounded. He had never imagined in his wildest dreams that Natasha was Jared’s woman. He had just messed with the one woman he should never have touched. ‘I’m doomed, he told himself.

His vision went black, and he collapsed to the floor, completely unconscious. Derek went over to check. “Boss, he’s fainted,” \ he said.

Jared shot him a cold look. “Take care of this. With that, he scooped Natasha up in his arms and strode out of the private

room.

“Dorothy…” Worried about her friend, Dorothy, Natasha cried out anxiously, not wanting to leave her friend behind.

“Derek will send her home,” Jared said firmly, in a tone that brooked no negotiation.

Jared lit a cigarette with one hand and exhaled a cloud of smoke. His sharply defined profile looked even more mesmerizing in the dim light. Natasha coughed softly, the smoke making her throat itch.

“Weren’t you on a business trip? Why are you here all of a sudden?” she asked, surprised.

“I just got off the plane when I called you,” Jared replied, turning to look her straight in her eyes.

He had initially planned to return within a few days. As Natasha barely messaged him all day, that made him dead set on rushing back right away. It turned out she really got herself into trouble.
