A Woman Worth Billions Dated the Wrong Brother novel Chapter 350

Amber POV

The cave had become eerily quiet.

The alarms had stopped almost ten minutes ago, leaving only the hum of the generators and the occasional crackle from the radios. The two guards stood near the entrance, watching the darkness outside, while Emory prepared to leave with the others.

Meanwhile, I had stopped using the command center’s computers entirely.

If someone had infiltrated the island’s systems, I wasn’t about to trust anything connected to them.

Instead, I pulled out my phone.

“Please tell me you’re not about to hack an entire country from your phone,” one of the guards said.

I didn’t even look up.

“Don’t worry. I’m planning to hack eight.”

The man blinked.

“I was joking.”

“I wasn’t.”

My fingers moved across the screen as I broke into Evermore’s military servers first.

If the island owner was telling the truth, there had to be signs.

Mobilization orders.

Secret communications.

Anything.

But there was nothing.

No evidence of an operation.

No preparations for an attack against the other countries.

No secret orders.

Nothing that suggested Evermore had planned to eliminate hundreds of foreign soldiers.

“That’s strange.”

I dug deeper.

Government archives.

Military records.

News reports from decades ago.

And then I found something unexpected.

One of the island owner’s sons had died in Evermore while serving in the military.

rowned.

That couldn’t be a coincidence.

Immediately, I opened files from the other seven countries.

Sum.

River City. 1

Starlight.

One after another.

And my blood slowly turned to ice.

All eight of the old man’s children had died.

One in each of the countries participating in the competition.

And every single death could be blamed, at least partially, on the government involved.

I opened the file from Sum first.

His son had died from appendicitis.

Ordinarily, that wouldn’t have been anyone’s fault.

Except that he had spent three hours trapped in an ambulance.

The highway had been blocked by protesters demanding that the government abandon plans to build new roads and redirect the money toward housing improvements.

Total nonsense.

The ambulance never reached the hospital.

The young man died before surgery.

I switched to River City’s files.

A car accident.

The old man’s son and his wife had been driving home when a truck crossed into their lane.

The driver had fallen asleep behind the wheel.

Both of them died instantly.

I read the trial records, unable to believe what I was seeing.

Community service.

That was the sentence.

Two lives lost, and the man responsible walked away with community service.

I clenched my jaw.

Then I opened Starlight’s records.

d immediately wished I hadn’t.

A family of six.

The island owner’s son.

His wife.

His elderly mother.

Three children.

Murdered inside their own home.

The police had caught the killer within days.

Gene Vincent.

I stared at the surname.

Vincent.

The same surname as Alexander Vincent.

The same family.

According to the records, the prosecution had collapsed because the police had contaminated the crime scene.

Every sample.

Every fingerprint.

Every piece of evidence.

The case had been thrown out.

Gene Vincent had walked free.

Months later, he had supposedly taken his own life.

I leaned back in my chair.

“I don’t believe that for a second.”

The guard looked over.

“What is it?”

I turned the phone toward him.

“The island owner’s children.”

He frowned as he read the reports.

“Oh, my God.”

“He lost all eight of them.”

The realization hit me like a truck.

he competition.

The island.

The rules.

The military personnel.

The countries involved.

This had never been about inheritance.

The old man never intended to give the island away.

This was revenge.

Pure and simple.

He had invited the elite soldiers of the countries he blamed for his children’s deaths and trapped them on an

island.

Evermore could still be involved.

But there was also the possibility that they were nothing more than another victim.

I grabbed the radio.

“All River City teams, answer immediately.”

One by one, the responses came through.

“Team One here.”

“Team Two listening.”

“Team Four online.”

I took a deep breath.

“Change of plans. Nobody goes to the landing site.”

Silence.

Then Jasmine spoke.

“What?”

“The evacuation point is compromised.”

Noah immediately understood.

“You think the island owner is behind this.”

“I do.”

Daniel’s voice came through next.

“You think this whole thing was a trap?”

“Yes.”

ooked down at the files one last time.

“He never intended to give us the island.”

The cave fell silent.

“This competition was revenge.”

Emory spoke for the first time.

“Against whom?”

I stared at the names of the eight countries on my screen.

“Against all of us.”

I swallowed hard.

“But listen carefully: we still don’t know whether Evermore is responsible or whether someone is using them as cover.”

“So what do we do?” Noah asked.

“For now, we stay hidden.”

“And after that?”

I looked toward the dark jungle outside the cave.

“After that, we find out who turned this island into a battlefield.”

Because if I was right, the island owner had spent decades planning his revenge.

And if I was wrong, then someone else was using the deaths of eight innocent people to start a war.

Neither option made me feel any safer.

Gone

Amber POV

I grabbed the radio and switched to the channel connecting all four River City teams.

“New orders.”

The chatter immediately stopped.

“If you encounter teams from other countries, inform them about what we found.”

For a few seconds, nobody answered.

Then Jasmine’s voice came through.

“Even Starlite?”

I looked at the satellite feed, at the dozens of markers moving through the jungle, and sighed.

“Yes. Even them.”

“The people trying to steal our island?”

“Jasmine, at this point, I don’t care who gets the island.”

Daniel’s voice cut in.

“We’re prioritizing not dying. Got it.”

“Exactly.”

Noah simply replied, “Understood.”

After ending the transmission, I looked at the command center’s computers.

They were too slow.

Too restricted.

Too easy to track.

“Please tell me you’re not about to dismantle military equipment,” one of the guards said.

I grabbed a screwdriver.

“Unfortunately, that’s exactly what I’m about to do.”

Three hours later, the original computer no longer existed.

Its processors, memory modules, antennas, and satellite uplink were scattered across my desk, connected to my modified phone, which now served as the center of an entirely new system.

The guard stared at the mess.

“That was government property.”

“It still is.”

“You took it apart.”

“I improved it.”

rubbed his forehead.

“I hate that those are apparently the same thing to you.”

The new system came online.

Immediately, dozens of signals appeared on my screen.

Tablets.

Communication devices.

Military trackers.

I smiled.

“Perfect.”

Using the command center’s antennas and my phone as a base, I began hacking into the nearest tablets one by one, activating their cameras remotely.

The first face to appear on my screen made me sit upright.

Franklin.

Covered in dirt, holding a rifle, arguing with one of his teammates.

I immediately opened the communication channel.

“Franklin.”

He froze.

The tablet almost slipped from his hands.

“What the-”

“Franklin, listen to me.”

His eyes widened.

“Amber?”

“Yes.”

He shook his head.

“Nice try. She’s probably safe at home.”

I sighed.

“Your mother still has the sapphire necklace I gave her, even though she claimed she was not worthy of jewelry and you are dating my daughter.”

He stared at the screen for several seconds.

“Oh my God. It is you.”

“Listen carefully. The evacuation is a trap.”

mediately, his expression changed.

“What?”

I quickly explained everything: the destroyed command centers, the casualties, the island owner’s children, and my suspicion that someone was using the competition to eliminate the special forces of the other countries.

Franklin’s face paled.

“So what do we do?”

“Don’t spread panic. If you see other team leaders, inform them. And if you run into Evermore, proceed with extreme caution.”

“You think they’re behind it?”

“I think they might be. Or someone wants us to believe they are.”

Franklin nodded.

“I’ll spread the message.”

The connection ended.

For the next hour, I contacted team after team.

Cloud Country.

Two teams from Sum.

One from Starlite.

Two from Snake Nest.

One from Lakeview.

Every conversation was the same.

Don’t panic.

Avoid the beach.

Stay hidden.

Trust nobody.

Finally, a familiar face appeared on my screen.

Jason.

He frowned immediately.

“Amber?”

“Jason.”

His expression softened for half a second before becoming serious again.

“What’s wrong?”

uickly explained everything.

The old man’s children.

The explosions.

The trap.

The casualties.

When I finished, he was silent.

“So don’t go to the landing zone,” I said.

Jason looked away from the camera.

“That’s a problem.”

My heart skipped.

“Why?”

“The beach is within sight.”

I stood up so fast that my chair crashed into the floor.

“What do you mean, within sight?”

“We’re on a ridge overlooking the landing site.”

“Jason, get away from there.”

He shook his head.

“We’ll hide, but I’m close enough to see what’s happening.”
