A Woman Worth Billions Dated the Wrong Brother novel Chapter 320

A tunnel

Amber POV

Alex didn’t panic.

That realization struck me almost immediately.

He wasn’t asking questions.

He wasn’t crying anymore.

He simply stayed close to us, listening to every instruction Jason gave him.

At only six years old…

He was calmer than many adults I had met.

Jason gently squeezed his shoulder.

“Stay behind me.”

Alex nodded once.

“Yes, Dad.”

Jason quickly searched the room one last time.

His eyes stopped on an old wooden cabinet built into the living room wall.

“There.”

He pushed it aside.

Behind it was another door.

Hidden.

Old.

Almost invisible.

He pulled on a rusted metal handle.

With a loud creak, the stone door slowly opened.

“A tunnel.”

I immediately checked the cameras.

No one had entered the room yet.

“They’re still searching outside.”

Jason looked at me.

“This buys us time.”

We stepped inside one after another.

Jason entered first with Alex.

Nollowed.

Before leaving, I carefully pulled the hidden door shut behind us, making sure it looked exactly as it had before.

If they didn’t notice the entrance…

We might gain precious minutes.

The tunnel was dark.

Cold.

The air smelled of damp earth and old stone.

Water dripped steadily from the ceiling.

Our footsteps echoed as we ran.

There was only one path.

No intersections.

No choices.

Just forward.

A faint breeze brushed against my face.

I smiled despite everything.

“There’s an exit.”

Jason nodded without slowing.

“I feel it too.”

We ran.

Five minutes.

Ten.

Fifteen.

The tunnel seemed endless.

Then…

A distant sound echoed behind us.

Footsteps.

I froze for half a second.

“They found the door.”

Jason looked over his shoulder.

“They’re following us.”

Me footsteps multiplied.

Voices.

They were still far away…

But getting closer.

Suddenly, Alex sneezed.

The damp air was becoming too much for him.

The sound echoed through the tunnel.

Silence followed.

Then shouting.

“They heard us.”

Jason didn’t hesitate.

He scooped Alex into his arms.

“Hold on.”

Alex wrapped both arms around his father’s neck without complaining.

Jason accelerated.

I had seen him run before.

I had never seen him run like this.

He wasn’t simply moving.

He was flying.

The shouting behind us grew louder.

“They’re close!”

Marcus’s voice crackled through my earpiece.

“We’re in position.”

“Keep coming.”

At that exact moment…

A faint glow appeared ahead.

Daylight.

“The exit!”

We burst out of the tunnel into dense jungle.

Fresh air filled my lungs.

mmediately pulled out my tablet.

The GPS marker appeared.

Marcus and Pamela’s location blinked just ahead.

“They’re this way!”

I took the lead.

Running as quickly as I could while carefully avoiding thick undergrowth and loose branches.

The less evidence we left behind…

The longer it would take the kidnappers to follow.

Jason stayed only a few steps behind me, Alex still securely in his arms.

The shouting erupted again.

Much closer now.

“They’re outside!”

I refused to look back.

“Keep running!”

The jungle suddenly opened.

There.

The small fishing boat.

Pamela saw us first.

“They’re here!”

Marcus immediately untied the ropes securing the boat.

The engine roared to life.
