Jason looked at me. “Should we answer them?”

“Mrs. Sun, thank goodness,” one of the investors said hurriedly. “We were hoping Mr. Sun had already signed the documents.”

I frowned as though I had no idea what he was talking about.

“Unfortunately, Jason was involved in a car accident shortly after leaving the office.”

“He was admitted to the hospital unconscious.”

I sighed dramatically.

“The police informed us that several personal belongings disappeared during the accident. His suitcase was among them.”

“So…” I continued, “if those documents are important, simply send me another copy. I’ll make sure Jason signs them once he’s recovered.”

The man’s tone changed instantly.

“I’m… afraid that won’t be possible.”

“They’re confidential corporate documents.”

“I understand.”
