They’re all calling
Amber POV
I looked over at Jason, who was sitting on the couch with a blanket over his legs, looking much healthier than he had only a few days before.
He caught me staring and smiled.
|
“What?”
I held up my phone.
“I think it’s time we answer.”
He already knew what I meant.
“The rumors?”
I nodded.
“They’re using your silence against you.”
“They’re saying you haven’t defended me because the divorce is real.”
Jason let out a tired sigh.
“Would it help if you posted a picture of me?”
“I don’t want to invade your privacy.”
He didn’t even hesitate.
“Amber.” 1
I looked at him.
“You never have to ask permission to defend us.”
He reached for my hand.
“Go ahead.”
He smiled softly.
“But…”
“I do have one request.”
“What is it?”
He gently intertwined our fingers.
“Take a picture of this.”
I looked down.
Our wedding rings rested side by side.
“I want them to see that.”

I couldn’t help smiling.
You really are sentimental.”
“Only with you.”
I leaned over and kissed his forehead before taking two pictures.
The first showed Jason resting comfortably in bed with the medical equipment still visible beside him.
The second was much simpler.
Just our hands.
His wedding ring.
Mine.
Our fingers tightly intertwined.
I uploaded both photographs.
Then I began typing.
“The last few weeks have been difficult for our family.
Jason was involved in a serious medical emergency and has remained under continuous observation.

Before accusing someone of remaining silent, perhaps remember that sometimes a person is simply not awake enough to answer.
We kindly ask everyone to respect his recovery.”
I pressed Post.
Within minutes, the comments flooded in.
Most people wished Jason a speedy recovery.
Others apologized for assuming the worst.
Then…
Monica appeared again.
Using her real account.
“Amber had no right to post Jason during such a vulnerable moment.
As Jason’s childhood friend, I will be taking care of him from now on.
Please disclose which hospital he is in so I can come pick him up.”
The room became completely silent.
Mrs. Sun blinked.
“…She actually wrote that?”
I nodded slowly.

Jason looked as confused as the rest of us.
haven’t spoken to her in years.”
I smiled.
“My turn.”
Without hesitation, I replied publicly.
“I’m curious.
If you are truly one of Jason’s closest childhood friends…
Where were you at our wedding?
Surely someone so important would have been invited.
Oddly enough, I don’t remember meeting you.
And in all the years I’ve known my husband…
He has never once mentioned you.”
The internet exploded.
Thousands of users immediately began asking the same question.
Where were the wedding photos?
Was she invited?
Does anyone remember seeing her?
A few minutes later, Monica answered.
“Jason told me about the wedding.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t attend because I was working.
Amber should stop embarrassing herself, accept reality, and sign the divorce papers.”
I looked over at Jason.
He frowned.
“I didn’t tell her.”
“I hadn’t spoken to her.”
I smiled.
“I know.”
Then I typed my final reply.
“Interesting.
Jason never requested a divorce.

Jason has his own legal team.
e unsigned divorce agreement was never filed, registered, or made public.
Only a handful of people even knew it existed.
Since you appear to know so much…
Could you please tell us the name of the lawyer who prepared those papers?”
I pressed Send.

Nothing.
Five minutes passed.
Ten.
Suddenly…
Monica’s comments disappeared.
Then her entire account vanished from my view.
“…She blocked me.”
Jason laughed despite everything.
“That’s one way to answer.”
