Herbert's unsaid words remained trapped in his throat. Starla just looked at him, her silence a heavy weight.
"My biggest regret," Herbert finally rasped, "is listening to Yardley back then. I trusted him."
Yes, he had trusted Yardley Hoggart. And look where it led them.
For once, Starla didn't argue. She just listened.
"I'm sorry," he whispered.
Three little words. A drop in the ocean compared to the agony she had endured trying to escape Yardley's madness.
"Are we going to eat, or what?" Starla asked, her voice flat.
"Right, sorry, Iβ" Herbert caught himself. He knew she hated dwelling on the past, especially after her time recovering in Smaro Town. Seeing the icy shift in her eyes, he swallowed the rest of his apologies.
Her phone buzzed. A text from an unknown number: *Is my brother still alive? Please, you have to tell me!*
Susanna. It had to be. Starla had blocked her number that morning; the desperate woman must have swiped a maid's phone. Without a second thought, Starla flipped her phone face-down on the table.
"Was that your brother?" Herbert asked.
"Susanna."
"Just block her," Herbert scoffed, his disdain for the Yelchins mirroring Yardley's current mess.

"You're a failure as a husband and coward as a Man" This is what i want to say in Fairfax hahaha you dont deserved a wife if you cant protect her...
Hahaha This plot of story i hate about, choosing another girl instead of your own wife is something unreal, you didnt considered your wife feeling, you didnt even trust her and later on you will say sorry?? Was sorry will fixed everything you've done? Was sorry fixed her heart? it was unfair for your wife, you must choose your wife whatever it is. You know your wife well more than anyone else and the only person she should lean on was the person who pushes her away...
