A Widow's Poison, A Wife's Rebellion novel Chapter 1318

If Yardley wasn't using the marriage as a smokescreen, then he was playing a lethal game of roulette, and Susanna was the expendable pawn.

"Half-real, half-fake?" Yvonne winced. "He's going to get someone killed. Does he have a death wish, provoking a woman like Jane Merlin?"

Yvonne considered herself a fiery, fearless woman, but even she was terrified of Jane Merlin. In Cyrus Sea, Amos gave the Merlins a wide berth. Nobody with half a brain messed with that family.

"Who knows what goes on in his head," Starla waved a hand dismissively. "Let's talk about you."

"Me?"

"Susanna knows all about your little history with Yardley."

Yvonne rolled her eyes. "So what?"

Let her know. Yvonne was already over a month pregnant with Amos's child. But hearing Starla's warning still made her stomach do a slight flip. Yardley was entirely capable of doing something unhinged.

"Things between them are volatile right now. Just watch your back," Starla warned.

"How am I supposed to do that?" Yvonne groaned, rubbing her temples. This was exactly the kind of headache she didn't want. "Besides, your dad is the one who summoned us back. Yardley wouldn't dare try anything, right?"

"He might not. But Susanna has a habit of stirring the pot."

"You noticed that too? When you guys were in Marina City, I thought you two actually got along."
