Who's the One Regretting Now? novel Chapter 84

So you’re saying that you didn’t go all the way but did everything else?Nathan summarized bluntly.

Edward wanted to argue, but no words came out.

Bringing Sharon into your home, treating her like she belongs there, driving her around, giving her extravagant gifts, and the constant headlines, and when the accident happened, you saved her first,Nathan listed, ticking off each point with his fingers.

You didn’t clear up the misunderstandings or visit Mrs. Fowler. You didn’t even care about her while she was in the hospital.

Nathan sighed.

Edward fell silent, his fists clenched, his teeth gritted. He couldn’t find a single word to defend himself.

You went too far, Mr. Fowler. If it were anyone else, they would’ve divorced you by now.Nathan dropped the final bombshell.

The word divorceseemed to trigger something in Edward.

Edward shot up from his chair, sending it flying backward. Nathan flinched, taking a few steps back and swallowing hard.

She would never divorce me! Even if the world ended or if the sun rose from the west, Macie would never

leave me.

Edward glared at Nathan and continued, You have no idea how much she loves me. This marriage was something she schemed for. She would never give up being Mrs. Fowler!

Nathan stayed quiet as he watched Edward’s sudden outburst.

It seemed that just mentioning divorce set him off like this. Edward had claimed that Macie would never leave him, but it seemed like he was the one who couldn’t let go. 1

In short, Edward was all talk and no action.

Don’t get too worked up. It was just a hypothetical,Nathan said, his smile stiff.

There’s no such hypothetical! If you can’t speak properly, then shut up! I’ll deduct your bonus next time,Edward snapped. 2

Nathan stayed silent and nodded. He had no choice but to succumb to Edward’s authority.

So, should we keep looking? Mrs. Fowler removed her phone card, and there was no record of her ID or phone number leaving the city. There aren’t any hotel or hospital records either.

Edward frowned. No record of leaving the city? No hotel stays? Then where was Macie?

Suddenly, he clenched his fist and slammed it onto the desk, making the file holder shake.

Edward was seething with anger. The only place he could think of where Macie might be staying was at

that bastard’s house!

Jealousy drove him mad. He swept all the files off the desk in a fit of rage.

Nathan had already retreated to the door. He was trembling in fear. It was his first time seeing Edward lose his composure like this. Even at his angriest, Edward had only ever yelled.

Find out who that man is! The one Macie’s with!Edward growled through clenched teeth, his eyes filled with murderous intent.

Although Nathan was confused, he agreed and hurried out. If they couldn’t even find Macie, how could they possibly find the other guy?

Nathan sighed, feeling like Edward had brought this on himself.

Edward didn’t stop working the entire afternoon. He stayed late until 10:00 pm before heading home. Nathan had failed to find any leads. Macie seemed to have vanished into thin air in the city.

At 8:00 pm, Sharon texted Edward, asking to have dinner together, but he didn’t reply. He didn’t answer her calls either. Night fell, and the streets were bustling with traffic.

Edward was driving. The windows were rolled down, the cool wind hitting his face, trying to calm his racing thoughts.

Macie had been gone for two days. Edward didn’t know where the hell she was.
