When They Beg I Rise (Lemira) novel Chapter 1123

Lemira felt absolutely no remorse.

She replied calmly, "Why? Are you trying to stop me?"

"Lemmy, that's not what I mean. I was just surprised to suddenly hear the news and wanted to check in. Did you find out something about Evelina's mother to trigger this?" Lucian's voice came through the line.

In Lucian Langston's mind, Lemira was definitely not the type of person to desecrate a grave.

Unless there were exceptional circumstances—like Evelina having the audacity to be buried in Lyria, right in the same cemetery where their parents rested.

No wonder Lemira had reacted so fiercely upon finding out.

Lemira continued, "I did find a lead, but it only relates to Evelina. Whoever is behind this probably planned to bury her first and ask questions later. By the time I found out, she would have already been rotting in the ground."

Too bad for them, she had caught wind of it early.

Lucian fell silent for a moment. "This is Lyria. I'll send people to investigate who transferred Evelina's body here. If they're moving a corpse around, they definitely left a trail."

"Sure, have at it."

Lemira didn't object. The more people looking into it, the higher their chances of uncovering the truth.

Not that she actually expected the Langstons to figure anything out.

"Lemmy, don't hang up yet. I have something else to say."

"Speak."

"I only found out last night that you went back to visit the cemetery, so we all drove back overnight. Could you come home—"

"No."

Lemira cut Lucian off before he could even finish his sentence, bluntly rejecting his request.

She hung up immediately. She didn't need to guess that he wanted her to come back to the estate for a family dinner.

She had zero desire to step foot in the Langston family mansion.
