Chapter 456 Using Zombies
Cecelia didn’t know much about Tennibar Island.
She asked Draven for the details.
Draven Bellingham said, “Back when the Eastern District got hit by its first zombie swarm, most people from the Western District moved straight to Tegnibar Island. But the island’s owner refused entry. I heard the owner’s the son of Dewfron City’s mayor, guy named Thunder. Metal control ability. After the zombie virus broke out in Dewfron City, plenty died. Alex is tough. Used to run a security company, and he led his people onto Tennibar Island first, cleared out every zombie on it.
“Later, he rescued survivors from Dewfron City too and settled them on the island. Heard Tennibar Island’s got insanely good geomancy. Most survivors who get in end up awakening an ability. Right now Alex commands over fifty thousand ability users on that island. Extremely hostile toward outsiders. Last time the military tried negotiating to get regular survivors onto the island, they only agreed to a one- month stay.
“Still, makes sense, honestly. Too many survivors poured out of the Western District. How big can an artificial island really be? Already packed just housing fifty–thousand–plus residents. Add another hundred- thousand–plus outsiders on top… resources would never stretch that far. Honestly, in Alex’s shoes, I’d make the same call.”
“Mm.”
Cecelia said, “Sounds like Alex’s got some backbone.”
Loyal too.
Even risking friction with the military, he’d chosen to protect his island’s ability users first. No wonder so many rallied behind him.
People like Alex were rare in the apocalypse.
But Dewfron City still sat too close to Sanctum.
In her previous life, after she and Ivy left with Brandon’s team, all she’d known was that Sanctum had fallen completely, dragging everything nearby down with it.
No way Tennibar Island could’ve dodged attacks from those advanced zombies then.
Different story this time around.
So long as Dewfron City’s base finished construction before Kaezer Group unleashed that level 6 mutated zombie again, the whole situation could flip.
These past few days, Morton had the military focused on two things, training and construction.
Most of Dewfron City’s zombies had already been cleared out. Today, they watched the military’s ability users building a moat around the perimeter, plus a wall standing over 60 feet tall.
At this pace, finishing within a month wouldn’t be much of a stretch.

“By the way, Cecelia… is there genuinely no other way to deal with Sabrina?”
Draven glanced at the rearview mirror. The boy in back had already curled up, asleep. Only then did he drop his voice and ask Cecelia.
Cecelia’s eyes darkened. “The Eastern District.”
Draven’s eyes lit up instantly. He caught her meaning at once. Wait until Sabrina headed into the Eastern District again, then let an advanced mutated zombie finish her off.
“Should I get a few people watching Sabrina right away, then?”
“Yes.”
A cold glint flashed through Cecelia’s eyes, expression turning grave. Using zombies was the only method she’d verified so far, through Zera and Harvey.
But Sabrina counted as the heroine here. Whether it would actually work remained to be seen. They’d just have to try.
That night.
At the Lowes‘ safe house.
Sabrina had just finished calming Rex down, coaxing him back into his room to settle for a while.
fruit anymore. Stepping back out, she told Nadia, “The military’s already made it clear they don’t need my I need another approach. Otherwise we won’t last much longer in Dewfron City. If things sour, Morton and the others might just take Rex and leave the rest of us behind.”
Panic flooded Nadia instantly. “How could that happen? Didn’t they say the base going up at Apex Base, would be safer? Honey, your father and I don’t hold any abilities. There’s no way we survive staying in Dewfron City on our own! You need to figure something out! Didn’t you say Morton’s genuinely capable? Why not try getting on his good side? Maybe he’ll…”
“Mom!”
Sabrina cut her off, impatient. “You think I haven’t tried? He won’t even look at me!”
Just hearing Morton’s name stoked her fury.
Her whole life, handling men had come as naturally as breathing. Reeling them in had never required effort.
Rex had fallen for her without her lifting a finger.
She’d assumed soldiers would prove harder to manage.
But hadn’t Glen fallen right into her grasp too?
