Two Reborn, One Throne novel Chapter 183

Even if it killed Joanne and Lucian, they couldn't believe that Amber, who had completely missed one subject, got a perfect score in every other exam.

It defied logic!

Joanne widened her eyes and checked again, but no matter how many times she looked, Amber was sitting pretty in tenth place.

—Why?!

She missed a whole test, how could she still be in the top ten? If that was the case... Joanne glanced over at Lucian, who had also scored perfectly across the board, and her breath hitched. If Amber hadn't missed that exam, wouldn't Lucian's number one rank belong to her?

No!!!

She couldn't accept it!

What right did she have?!

Did everyone else in the top fifty miss an exam too?

Why was Amber allowed to stay in tenth place?

Lucian's breath was stolen just like Joanne's. In his past life, Amber had never achieved a perfect score in a single subject. In this life, she had aced every single one. If she hadn't missed that test—the number one spot would undoubtedly be hers.

Even though he had broken through his past life's limitations and gotten perfect scores himself, he was already rank one; scoring perfectly was expected.

Even with a missing grade, Amber had stolen all the thunder.

"Amber..."

"What, do you want to ask me how I did it?" Amber stared back at Lucian, her eyes glinting with a sharp, mocking red edge. "Lucian, even down one exam, I'm still tenth. You think I don't deserve it? Do you really think you deserve it? You should consider yourself lucky I missed it. Otherwise, that top spot would be mine."

Lucian scoffed coldly, "Keep dreaming. We both know exactly how you managed those perfect scores. There's no need to talk big."

Amber laughed at his accusation. "Lucian, you really won't give up until you're staring at the nails in your own coffin, will you? Since you're so stubborn, there's no point in arguing. Like I said before, just wait and see."

Furious, Joanne lashed out, "If you're still in tenth place, then why were you pretending to be in pain? Are you playing us, Amber?"

This bitch must have predicted they would come over to mock her, digging a pit for them so they'd look like idiots dropping a rock on their own feet.

Absolutely despicable.

Rotten to the core.

Amber opened her mouth to speak, but Vance beat her to it. "Joanne, if you're dumb enough to walk right into a wall, what does that have to do with Amber? Which of your ears or eyes saw or heard her clutching her chest because of her rank? She was upset because I didn't hit my target score, and she's mad at me. Could you and Lucian spare us the unnecessary drama?"

He might as well go grovel to Lucian right now.

Amber gave him a swift kick, sending him sprawling. "Amber!"

"Look at you acting so pathetic. I'd be embarrassed to call you my classmate out in public." She glared at him, crouching down to meet his level. "We still have the prep period, what's the rush? If it doesn't work out, let me ask you this, Vance—don't you want to see Lucian on his knees begging you?"

Vance did, but he was also realistic.

"Don't stay at school for the prep period. Come to the library with me every day. I'll tutor you. Just like Lucian said, memorize it. You will memorize everything I give you. If you don't get the letter, it doesn't matter, since you're the one taking the fall anyway. But what if you actually pull it off? Vance, if you're a man, step up."

Vance: "..."

How was he supposed to step up?

The end of the fifth mock exam signaled the curtain falling on their three years of high school. The upcoming seven-day prep period was designated for students to self-manage, review, and make their final sprint before the big test.

Seven days to improve his score by 350 points? He might as well go get his knees ready now.

But...

"If I actually get in, will you grant me one wish?"
