Two Reborn, One Throne novel Chapter 182

Monday.

The results for the fifth mock exam were posted.

As soon as Amber walked into the classroom, she heard her classmates murmuring.

"Amber truly lives up to her reputation. She missed the math exam entirely and still managed to hold on to tenth place in the grade?"

"Vance, did Amber use a cheat code?"

"Oh my god, if she hadn't missed math, wouldn't she be ranked first in the entire grade?"

When the scores were posted, Vance was the first to rush into the classroom. His goal was simple: to be the one to tell Amber her total score and class rank despite her missing an entire subject.

He initially thought he had misread it, but after scanning the board up, down, left, and right dozens of times, and as classmates trickled in, he confirmed it—Amber was indeed still ranked tenth!

It wasn't that he didn't believe it; he just thought she was unfathomably brilliant.

To miss a whole subject but score perfectly on every other exam—if that wasn't god-tier, what was?

Amber didn't have much interest in their gossip. Scoring perfectly on everything else was well within her expectations. She was much more concerned with Vance's total score and rank.

She called out, "Vance, what was your total? Did you hit your target?"

Hearing her call his name, Vance, who was fully prepared to share the joy of her tenth-place rank, instinctively used his height to block her view of the scoreboard, hiding his own results.

"Amber, you turned in a blank exam for math, right? Your total score this time shouldn't even count."

She glared at him. "Move!"

Vance refused to budge. He felt too embarrassed, but Amber's tone was fierce. "Don't make me ask twice!"

A classmate joked, "Amber, let Vance off the hook. That thick skull of his can't compare to yours."

"Yeah, even if he didn't turn in a blank exam, he still wouldn't hit the admission cutoff for Zenith University."

Vance snapped at them to shut up. Tillie took the opportunity to shove him aside. "Amber, his total score is three hundred points below the target. Even taking out the blank exam, he's still short by two hundred points."

Tillie and Vance had walked into the classroom together. Amber had entrusted Tillie with the task, and since Tillie couldn't repay Amber yet, she had been keeping a close eye on Vance every day on her behalf. But she was disappointed—with Vance's fifth mock exam scores, forget Zenith University, he couldn't even get into a trade school.

Lucian added a snide remark. "Amber, Joanne is right. There's no need to be so angry with yourself. If you ruin your health and can't take the Exam, the loss will be immense."

Vance roared, "Lucian, Joanne, cut the crap! Amber isn't upset because she missed an exam, she's upset because..."

"Because what? Because of you?" Joanne interrupted him, her face full of mockery. "Vance, there's no need to protect her so fiercely. The whole school knows she missed an exam, and no one is laughing at her. Why put on a show?"

With that, Joanne's eyes drifted toward the scoreboard. "Excuse me, everyone, could you step aside? I want to see my Lucian's total score and rank. Let's see if he dropped to the top hundred like Amber, or if he's still number one."

When she finally looked at the board, her pupils froze.

Her eyes were filled with absolute disbelief. "Ranked tenth? How is that possible?"

She scanned it again. Vance knew her expression mirrored his exact reaction when he first saw Amber's scores, so he magnanimously walked over to the board and pointed. "See it clearly, Joanne? Even missing one subject, Amber got a perfect score on every other one. Sorry to break it to you, but she's stronger than you could ever imagine. Even with a blank exam, she's still tenth."

Joanne's face drained of color. "That's impossible. The teachers must have miscalculated!"

Before Vance could answer, Lucian, seemingly triggered by the words, lunged forward. Like Joanne, his face was etched with shock. "What exactly is going on here?!"

"What's going on? Are you two blind? Are the numbers on the board not clear enough? Literature & Composition 150; English 150; Science Composite 350; isn't that clear? Don't worry, when the teachers hand out the papers later, I'll tape hers to the blackboard so you two can stare at them all day," Vance declared.
