That was why they were so fearless and reckless.
Under normal circumstances, they might have gotten away with it. But Mira and her team were anything but ordinary.
Mira handed a small packet of powder to Owen. "Use it. Let's not waste time."
Before the captive could react, Owen forced his jaw open and dumped the powder down his throat.
"What... what did you just give me?"
The man gagged, trying desperately to spit it out, but the powder dissolved instantly on his tongue. Gradually, his mind clouded over until he completely lost control of his own body.
In that terrifying moment, he finally realized he had messed with the wrong people.
If he had known his targets were this formidable, he would never have taken the job. The payout was nowhere near enough for this level of risk.
"He's ready."
Owen sat back in his chair, gesturing for the Iron Wolves to begin the interrogation.
"Who sent you?"
"A syndicate from Balkana. They hired the Scorpio Syndicate."
"How much is the payout?"
"If we succeed, we each get a million dollars. We already got a hundred thousand upfront."
"If we double your pay to go after the mastermind, would you take the job?"
"No way. I wouldn't do it for all the money in the world."
"Why not?"
"Because they are utterly ruthless. They are completely off-limits to us.
If we fail them, it won't just be death. They'll torture us until we're begging for the end."
"I guess we've been too merciful, which is why these people think they can walk all over us."
Mira scoffed self-deprecatingly.
When dealing with scum like this, there could be no mercy.
"Who is your local contact?"
"I don't know his full name, but I heard his last name is Lance."
"What was your objective here?"
Just to be absolutely safe.
While they were talking, Silas Lawson's men were already arriving with the electronic sensors.
Mira sent Jax and Vane to retrieve the gear. "Vault the perimeter wall. Don't alert the front gate security."
Fortunately, it was past midnight. The neighborhood was dead silent, and the heavy overcast sky plunged the area into pitch darkness.
The sensors were brought back quickly. Moving like shadows, Mira and her team slipped into Building One. Sweeping the pre-identified emergency stairwell, they located their next target.
Using the exact same method, they knocked the man unconscious. With the sensors in hand, stripping him of his concealed electronics took only seconds.
They extracted the cyanide capsule from his molar first. To avoid waking the sleeping residents, they dragged him into a nearby grove of trees.
After another dose of the Veritas Serum, the captive spat out the exact same story as the first. A sprinkle of Necrotic Catalyst erased him from existence.
Even though the intel was confirmed, they didn't skip any steps. They hunted down the remaining mercenaries, interrogated each one, and disposed of them with the catalyst.
Within an hour, the entire infiltration squad was wiped out.
"What should we do with these trackers?"
Mira asked her mentor.
