Too Late to Hold Me Back novel Chapter 943

Sebastian finally led Gwen inside, taking a seat across from Owen and Mira.

"You were the one who reported Lawrence," Sebastian said, staring sharply at Owen.

"Reported him? Did I even need to?

The police stepped in the second the worker fatalities at the Lance Corporation came to light. Sebastian, don't tell me you didn't even know that?"

Owen watched Sebastian with an amused, predatory gaze.

The implication was clear: the esteemed head of the Quinn Group was letting himself be yanked around blindly by his lunatic wife.

Based on that alone, the future of the Quinn Group looked incredibly bleak.

It was a good thing Mira had the foresight to pull out the fifteen percent of shares Grandma Eleanor had given her early on.

"You're the one who had Lawrence arrested..."

Gwen sobbed hysterically.

"Can you speak like a normal human being?"

Master Ellis barked again.

Sebastian quickly grabbed Gwen's arm. "Save it. Stop making a scene."

"So you're the one who investigated the truth and handed the evidence over to the police?"

Sebastian asked Owen.

"Yes."

He didn't bother denying it.

"But he's your brother, and Sera's husband."

"Are you asking me to cover up the truth and harbor a criminal?"

Owen paused, his gaze turning somber. "Do you think the workers he killed didn't have families and parents?

Why don't you ask your wonderful son-in-law if he ever considered that I was his brother when he used the lives of multiple employees to force me out of my position?

If he has the guts to break the law, he needs the guts to face justice."

"In your opinion, is there any room to maneuver here?"

"Sebastian, that's not my area of expertise.

You can go ask the police, or maybe consult a lawyer."

His answer was totally bureaucratic, making it painfully obvious he had zero intention of helping.

What were they supposed to do now?

Gwen tried to interject several times, but Sebastian kept pressing her down. He knew that mindless screaming wouldn't fix anything; it would only make the situation worse.

"Will be mine, obviously. Who else in my family do you think is capable of handling it?"

Sebastian was, once again, out of words.

"But Sera just married Lawrence..."

"Sera is a hero! You're a hero, too! Your whole family is full of heroes. Walking straight into the lion's den when you knew exactly what was waiting for you..."

Owen mocked smoothly.

"Hahaha..."

Mira looked toward the sound of the laughter. "Mason, why haven't you left yet?"

"No rush. I'm just enjoying the show."

Everyone stared at him in silence.

Actually, Jax Weaver and the other bodyguards were lounging not too far away, thoroughly enjoying the drama.

But they adhered to professional protocol: their job was to protect the client, and they never interrupted unless necessary.

Meanwhile, Master Ellis sat by the dining table, glaring like a hawk.

"When Lawrence proposed the sudden wedding, he said it was to bring good luck to your grandfather's health. I figured she was going to marry him sooner or later anyway, so I agreed,"

Sebastian explained defensively.
