"That's more like it."
Mira said, tilting her head.
After dinner, just as Mira and Owen were heading upstairs to the study, Martha Vance walked over. "Mr. and Mrs. Quinn are here."
Owen shot Mira a knowing look. "What did I tell you?"
"Thank goodness Eleanor didn't come back."
Mira muttered, feeling a sudden wave of relief before turning toward the entrance.
"You go handle them. I'm staying out of it. I have no desire to see those two."
Owen said.
"Go on, then. You being here wouldn't help anyway."
Mira could argue with them, even curse them out, but Owen, as a future relative, had to keep a certain distance.
"Sebastian, I already told you Eleanor isn't here. Why did you come back?"
Mira asked, skipping the pleasantries.
Sebastian stayed silent, but Gwen immediately started squawking. "Just because Eleanor isn't here means we can't visit? Is that how you speak to your elders? How completely ill-bred.
Sebastian, look at her!"
"If I'm so ill-bred, why do you keep running over to my house?"
Sebastian sat heavily on the sofa while Martha poured them tea.
"Seraphina got married today."
"I know."
"Since Eleanor didn't attend, we brought the wedding video for her to watch."
Mira knew it. Gwen just wanted to flaunt how extravagant her daughter's wedding was.
"Fine, leave it here. I'll make sure Eleanor sees it when she gets back."
"Mira, when are you getting married?"
Sebastian asked.
"I'll have to reach the legal age and graduate from university first."
"Can Owen wait that long?"
Gwen sneered.
"Why wouldn't he? Since he chose me, he'll have to wait."
Pausing, Mira locked eyes with them both. "Who knows, maybe the police will come drag Lawrence away any day now.
You should go back and remind Seraphina to mentally prepare herself."
"Who are you cursing?"
Gwen abruptly shot up from the couch, lunging forward as if to strike Mira, but Jax Weaver stepped in smoothly to block her path.
Honestly, even if Jax hadn't intervened, Gwen would never have won a fight against Mira.
"If you won't listen to advice, then so be it. Since you've dropped off the video, you can see yourselves out."
There was no point wasting breath on them, and Mira was eager to get upstairs to work.
After all, she needed to clear her schedule to learn about jewelry from Eleanor tomorrow.
With no other choice, Sebastian stood up and awkwardly took his leave.
Right before stepping out the door, he turned to Mira. "Was Lawrence really behind that murder?"
"Believe what you want."
"How is that possible? Sebastian, what's wrong with you? Are you really going to believe her nonsense?
How could Lawrence be capable of something like that?"
