Mira swung the door open and found Sebastian and Gwen standing on the porch.
"Sebastian, Gwen. What brings you two here?"
"Mira, you're up early. Heading to class?" Sebastian asked with a forced smile.
Gwen ignored the pleasantries, her eyes darting around the house. "Is Eleanor not awake yet? Really, Mira, you've all finished breakfast and didn't even bother to get her up." Gwen fired off accusations without a second thought.
"Relax, Gwen. Eleanor's health and wellness routine here is ten times better than anything she had at your place."
"Excuse me? Sebastian, look at her! I barely said a word and she's already snapping at me," Gwen huffed.
"Enough, both of you. Drop it. Mira, go wake Eleanor up. I need to speak with her."
"Unfortunately, she isn't home."
"Not home? Where the hell did you stash her?" Gwen shrieked, instantly panicking.
"Eleanor told me she'd never traveled out of the country, so I had some people fly her to Australis for a vacation."
"Australis? Are you out of your mind? A woman her age taking a flight like that? Do you think she can handle a long-haul journey? Sebastian, do something! Are you just going to let your niece torture your mother?"
"Relax. I hired a private medical team for twenty-four-hour care, backed by twenty elite bodyguards. If she so much as gets tired of walking, they'll carry her. I've got a buddy over there handling the logistics and putting her up in the best five-star suites. I guarantee she's eating well, having a blast, and resting perfectly. We're in constant contact."
"Jordan? When did you get back?" If Mira had known he was home, she wouldn't have bothered turning back. With Master Ellis around, there wasn't a problem he couldn't handle.
"I rolled in around midnight and didn't sleep until one. You ungrateful brat, instead of letting an old man rest, you let this absolute psycho stand in the house howling like a banshee?"
Mira blinked, stunned. Sebastian and Gwen were equally dumbfounded.
"How dare you speak to me like that, old man? Who are you calling a psycho?" She was a distinguished professor. Professor Quinn! She commanded respect across the university campus, only for this decrepit old fool to hurl insults at her...
"Get out! Get the hell out! Walk out that door or I'll beat you out myself, then call the police to haul your asses to jail!"
Left with no choice, Sebastian dragged a resisting Gwen toward the exit. Just before they crossed the threshold, he glanced back. "Mira, seriously, where did you take her?"
