"What do you mean, poison? Didn't she just add some Somnolence Tablets?"
Adrian Mercer felt that Ethan and Mira were completely overreacting.
"Then why don't you drink it, Adrian?"
Ethan offered flatly.
"Since neither of you has the guts to drink it..."
Before Ethan could finish his sentence, Mira interjected, "Ethan, call the police!"
Ethan didn't hesitate. Trusting Mira completely, he pulled out his phone and immediately dialed 911.
"Ethan, do you really have to take it this far?"
Adrian shouted angrily.
"If someone tries to hurt others, they have to pay the price."
Ethan replied, his tone unhurried and resolute.
"Ethan! We can skip the police, but only if you transfer half of the Mercer Group's shares to Ethan's name and sign a formal severance agreement."
Mira struck while the iron was hot.
"Not a chance!"
Adrian lunged forward to knock the bowl of soup away, but Ethan snatched it out of reach just in time.
"There were only a few sedatives in there!"
Lacey Quinn Mercer cried out, feigning utter heartbreak.
"What exactly is in it? The police will find out as soon as they test it."
Trying to play dirty with drugs against Mira? They were destined to fail. In her past life, Mira had practically been a master of pharmaceuticals.
Mira stared right at Lacey, enunciating every word. "Even wild beasts protect their young. You're worse than an animal."
"Minnie, Lucas really only gave Mara some Somnolence Tablets."
Lacey looked deeply wounded.
Mira ignored her completely. Adrian, meanwhile, fell into a heavy silence. He was desperately weighing his options: half the company's shares versus the devastating PR nightmare of police involvement. Which was more critical?
