"Plus, I need a Standby Fund."
Mira made her demands without a shred of hesitation.
The two brothers exchanged a look. This sister really wasn't holding back; she was treating them like a bottomless ATM.
"I won't ask for much for the Standby Fund. Forty thousand dollars is enough. I'll pay you back once I make my own money."
Mira quickly added.
"Done. I'll give you two hundred thousand. Once you're home, your monthly allowance will be twenty thousand."
Ethan said.
He owed Mira a massive debt in their past life, and Ethan was desperately trying to make amends this time around.
"That won't be necessary. Just give me what I asked for.
"Also, your family lost me when I was a baby. If my foster parents hadn't saved me, I would have died at birth and been tossed out like medical waste.
"So, I don't owe you anything for merely giving birth to me. In other words, I have no real ties to your family. Don't bother adding me to the family registry or legally transferring my residency.
"I can go back with you, but if we get along, I'll stay. If we don't, I leave."
Julian was about to refuse, but Ethan held up a hand. "Agreed."
He clearly remembered the exact scenario when Mira severed ties in their past life. If she was legally bound to the registry, severing ties in the future would come at a brutal cost.
As long as Adrian refused to sign the papers, leaving would be a messy, entangled nightmare.
All the while, Sarah and George stood there, completely dumbfounded. Although it broke their hearts to see their daughter leave, the terms Mira was laying out for these two men were incredibly harsh.
What brought them comfort was that their girl hadn't forgotten them.
"Minnie, speak nicely to Ethan,"
Sarah couldn't help but chide gently, her heart too kind to handle the friction.
