Mira and Ryan had just stepped off the main street when an unfamiliar student jogged over. "Ryan, the teacher wants you back at the school right away."

Ryan paused, then turned to Mira. "Wait right here for a minute. I'll go see what's up."

With that, he hopped on his bike and sped back toward the campus.

With her sharp instincts, Mira immediately sensed that something was off.

Still, she didn't stop him. Ryan was heading back to a crowded school area; he wouldn't be in any real danger.

If there was a trap, it was definitely set for her.

She was standing near the entrance to the mountain trail, and with evening approaching, there were hardly any pedestrians around.

But some things couldn't be avoided. If she dodged this today, they would just try again tomorrow. The only real solution was to hit back so hard they'd be terrified to ever approach her again.

"Hey there, little lady. Waiting for someone? Why don't you come hang out with us for a bit?" one of them sneered.

Mira didn't flinch, a stillness the thugs easily mistook for terror. Just as they closed in, she launched a devastating kick directly into the leader's stomach. Caught completely off guard, he was sent flying several feet backward.

Spinning gracefully, she landed a brutal punch on the second thug, sending him sprawling into the dirt where he rolled to a stop. Seeing that they had messed with the wrong girl, the remaining two instantly turned and fled.

In reality, these small-town street punks were all bark and no bite. They were nothing compared to the highly trained martial artists she had faced in her past life.
