"I'm not asking about just now," Ethan demanded, his tone dropping sharply. "When did Mara get to this house?"
He only had his memories from his past life. This new timeline was a complete blank.
Julian blinked in confusion. Not exactly the sharpest tool in the shed, he couldn't grasp what Ethan was getting at.
"Get to the house? Mara has always lived here!"
And Ethan actually thought he wasn't feverish.
"What do you mean, 'always'? Since birth?"
Ethan's frown deepened. Had the timeline fundamentally shifted?
"Yeah, since birth. She's our sister. Mom had her, just like she had us."
Julian sighed, patiently spelling it out for his older brother.
Ethan's brain had definitely been fried by the fever.
Ethan's gaze turned predatory. "Mom had her? Bullshit."
Were Adrian and Fiona Quinn even more brazen in this life? Did they dare to blatantly keep Mara in the Mercer house from the start?
"Then let me ask you this," Ethan pressed. "Where is Mira?"
He glared furiously at Julian.
"Who the hell is Mira?"
Julian looked genuinely lost.
"Our real sister! She's our actual biological sister. As for Mara, she is nothing but..."
Ethan almost spat that she was a bastard born to their father and his mistress. But he bit his tongue.
He had no idea what the political landscape of this timeline was yet. Julian was too dense; if he blabbed, it could ruin everything.
Right now, Adrian controlled both the family and the Mercer Group. Until Ethan fully consolidated his own power, he couldn't afford to alert the enemy.
"So you're telling me, growing up, we only ever had one sister, and that's Mara? No one else?"
