Too Late to Hold Me Back novel Chapter 1185

Mira realized she couldn't push the matter further. Emotional matters weren't for outsiders to dictate.

"Master Ellis, we could at least observe the kid. If he has a good heart, maybe he's worth accepting.

When he insulted you back then, he was just a child. He might have been brainwashed by his mother."

"Absolutely not. Anything related to that woman needs to stay as far away from me as possible."

"All I'm saying is, take some time to meet the young man and quietly run a DNA test.

If he isn't yours, we wash our hands of him. But if he really is your biological son, we could look out for him. Even just setting up a trust fund would suffice."

They wouldn't have to be close.

"If you two want to go through the trouble, be my guest. But regardless of his character, you two are the ones inheriting my legacy.

There is no place for him in my heart, and I won't entertain this matter any further."

Mira and Owen exchanged a glance. "Understood."

With the conversation wrapped up and dinner finished, it was time to leave, but Master Ellis waved them off. "You two head back first. I have some business to attend to."

"We'll see you at home, Master Ellis. Don't stay out too late, you need your sleep."

Mira added the reminder out of habit.

"Don't worry about me. I'm more than capable of managing my own schedule."

Mira and Owen then took their leave.

As for what their mentor planned to do? They never pried. Because just like them, Master Ellis managed a massive network.

A transnational one, at that.

Little did they know, his business tonight had nothing to do with work. Shortly after Mira and Owen left, the mother and son they had just been discussing stepped into the private dining room.

What, did your foreign lover get tired of you? Bleed you dry? Actually, I doubt he ever planned on giving you a dime. He just saw a pretty face and wanted a plaything for a few years.

Did you really think he loved you?

Now you're broke, aging, and stripped of your looks. You have no value and no real skills to survive abroad.

Otherwise, you never would have come crawling back to the man you wronged just to scrounge for a living."

The woman burst into tears, gasping for air. "Is that really how you see me?"

"How else should I see you?

You restless, ungrateful tramp! You relied on your youth and looks, thinking you were invincible, scamming your way through life.

When I left the Javenaire Federation, I told you that you'd meet a bitter end. Looks like I was right."
