Too Late to Hold Me Back novel Chapter 1160

Starting this semester, Mira was double-majoring in finance, which meant her schedule was about to become grueling. When she went to the finance department to register, she was shocked to see Dean Henderson personally handling her enrollment paperwork.

"Dean Henderson, you really didn't have to go through the trouble."

"It's no trouble at all. It's a privilege to assist Boss Mercer."

"Professor, please don't call me that. I'm your student now."

Mira had no desire to flaunt her corporate title in an academic setting.

Regardless of her immense status in the business world, she was here to learn. Maintaining humility and respecting her professors was non-negotiable.

"Having a student like you is the real privilege. If you decide to pursue your master's degree here, I'll personally be your advisor,"

Dean Henderson said with a warm smile.

"Whether I stay in the country for my master's or not, you will always be my professor."

Mira was actually planning to pursue her graduate studies abroad. The harsh reality was that Western countries were still miles ahead in computer science and technology.

Besides, since she was completing her undergraduate degree domestically, studying overseas would give her the perfect blend of global perspectives.

"I'll actually be teaching your double-major cohort myself this semester."

This was the first time in years that Dean Henderson was personally taking on an undergraduate class. He was incredibly busy, juggling his graduate students and running the entire finance department.

"That's wonderful! Thank you, Professor."

"No thanks needed. It's a joy to have you in my class.

Plus, when I go out, I get to brag to my old colleagues that Mira Mercer is my student. Think of the bragging rights!"

"Professor, I'm just a normal student. Please treat me exactly like everyone else."

"Oh, you are far from normal, and I won't accept arguments to the contrary."

Alright, fine. Not normal it is.

Dean Henderson, of course, didn't press for the exact figures. As a top-tier financial expert, outright asking a titan about their net profits was utterly tasteless.

"The stock market is a volatile beast. One second you're in heaven, the next you're in hell. During your first trip, how did you have the nerve to initiate such a massive short squeeze?"

the professor asked.

"Seventy percent was calculated market analysis, and thirty percent was a pure gamble.

As you know, any play in the stock market involves an element of gambling. If a stock was guaranteed a hundred percent to rise or fall, retail investors would never see a dime.

The global financial predators would swallow it whole in a fraction of a second."

"So, where did that seventy percent of confidence come from?"

"During that first trip, the real estate bubble in the Javenaire Federation had been stretched to its absolute breaking point. Bank collapses were inevitable.

The moment even a single bank went under, a domino effect was guaranteed. And the next domino to fall would be a catastrophic global financial crisis.
