Too Late to Hold Me Back novel Chapter 1147

"Fine. I'll count them right now."

He snatched the bag from Mira's hands and began meticulously counting his stash. Once finished, he scribbled the number down on a notepad, smartly keeping one bag for himself before handing the rest to the assistant.

"So, do you know someone named Jocelyn?"

"Who's Jocelyn? Never heard of her."

It was clear his brain had entirely permanently blocked out all the toxic people and agonizing events.

Having gathered all the necessary information, they prepared to head out.

Owen slipped the assistant an envelope containing five hundred dollars in cash. "You take excellent care of my grandfather. This is to show my appreciation."

"Just doing my job, sir."

The young man smiled politely and accepted the tip. He then lowered his voice to inform them, "Those people you warned me about came by just two days ago. They tried every trick in the book to get me to leave the room, but it's against protocol, so I stayed put. They tried fishing for information, but the old man genuinely didn't know anything."

Owen had strictly ordered him never to leave Leonard unattended, especially when those specific visitors arrived.

"Keep up the great work. We'll make sure you're well compensated. Call me immediately if anything happens."

"Don't worry, I'll guard him with my life."

Afterward, the couple met with Leonard's primary care physician. The doctor's health report perfectly aligned with Mira's own medical assessment, putting their minds completely at ease.

They settled the upcoming month's bill and finally left the premises.

As a top-tier rehabilitation and palliative care facility, the costs were naturally exorbitant, easily exceeding thirty thousand dollars a month. It was far beyond what an average family could afford.

For Owen, however, the expense was less than pocket change.

On the drive back, Mira turned to him. "I really love this place. I think I'll ask Eleanor if she wants to move out here."

"You can ask, but I highly doubt she'll agree."

Owen suggested, even though his grandfather no longer recognized them.

By the time they arrived home, Eleanor and Ellis were already back.

"How did things go with the Quinn family?"

Mira asked the moment she stepped through the door.

Eleanor nodded slowly. "It's handled. I appointed Miles as Chairman. He now has full authority over the operations of the Quinn Group."

"Did Sebastian and Gwen throw a fit?"

"As if they had the guts. If they dared to make a scene, I would have dissolved the group entirely, leaving them without a single penny. Since Sebastian handed over his power quietly, I was willing to let his son inherit the assets."

Eleanor let out a heavy, weary sigh. "It's not that I want to be ruthless to my own flesh and blood. Sebastian is simply incapable of handling real responsibility. He's entirely controlled by his wife. How could he possibly manage a massive corporation? And Gwen is nothing but a troublemaker, constantly meddling and barking out baseless orders."
